10 Favourite Actresses Challenge:1-Angelina Jolie

I decided to start a new challenge, if anyone wants to join me, feel free! :) I am counting down from ten to one, my favourite actresses. These are all actresses who are still currently working. If I had included legendary actresses too, I may have had a much tougher time choosing!
 
In first place *drum roll* is Angelina Jolie. Controversial and depicted as both a saint and a sinner, Angelina is anything but dull. From the very first time I saw her I both related to her and was fascinated by her.
 
The first film I saw her in was Gia, based on the life and tragic demise of Gia Marie Carangi, one of the first every supermodels. Her performance was remarkable, she oozed sexiness and vulnerability and I found her portrayal heartbreaking. She seemed to me, to be the real deal, not just a talented actress, but somebody who knew how it was, to visit dark places. I felt this further when I saw her as the sociopathic Lisa in Girl Interrupted. Her character was both horrific and compelling to watch. For this role, she won an Oscar.
 
Other performances I have enjoyed of hers are The Changeling, The Bone Collector and Taking Lives, but it is not just for her on screen work, that I love her. She also does wonderful humanitarian work, and in 2001 was named a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador.
 
I think Angelina is a very talented actress, who I am sure has her best work ahead of her, but I think people can sometimes forget this, because of her extraordinary beauty. It can be distracting, particularly in her more glamorous roles, such as The Tourist, but I think it is is important people realise there is much more to her, than a gorgeous face.
