Movies were now enjoying its Golden era of the silent cinema. It quickly became a recognised genre of the arts, and an important influence on the 1910's society after the first world war. All the clothes started to change from the Victorian black to colours and the traditional emphasis on the hourglass silhuette was changing. The first world war had put a stop on couture. After the war, many tried to go back to the Victorian era but it was too late. It had put Chanel's ideas into practice and simplicity as skirts and sweaters were being worn and sewn everyday.
