I watched from behind the scenes as Derek said every line without one yell of ‘cut’ from the director. The tall brunette and him sat on a bench and kissed for the very first time.
“I’m in love with you.” Derek said to her as she wrapped her arms around him and whispered something in his ear.
“cut! Maria, I need to talk to you, darling. Five minute break, everyone.” The director yelled.
I walked up to Derek who seemed more nervous then I’ve ever seen him. He smiled sheepishly and rubbed his palms on his jeans. “my palms are so sweaty! Please don’t tell me you saw all of that.” he said. I sat down next to him and couldn’t help but smile back.
“You were great! And look at your co-star, she’s a little hottie.” I assured him.
“I wish it were you.” he said, suddenly.
I laughed it off and stood up when I saw her walking back towards him.
“where you going?” he asked.
“my shift is over and besides, she’s coming over. Wouldn’t wanna make her jealous.” I teased.
He laughed a bit and stared iinto my eyes. “I’m sorry about last night.”
“sorry about what? You didn’t do anything.” I replied, biting my lower lip.
“I don’t know. I was being weird.” He shrugged and stood up and faced me now.
“It’s fine. good luck with the rest of the scene. You were doing great.” I said and walked away.
“thanks.” He replied.

“hey.” I walked in and jumped on the bed next to Delilah as she flipped through a magazine.
“Hello darling. How was work?” she asked me, picking up her head and smiling at me.
“weird. Derek’s being weird. I’m being weird with Derek. I think im jealous of the girl he gets to kiss.” I admitted.
“he likes you.” Delilah said. I watched as she rubbed her wrist on the fragrance page of the magazine and sniffed it. she shook her head and laughed. “you do know that, right?” she added. “he was so mad at you for talking to that marlon guy last night and leaving him behind.”
“really?”
“really. But we’re here for like two more weeks, Delilah. I promised myself I wouldn’t fall for anyone. Plus, I broke up with my ex like a week ago. Not even.”
“you cant help when you fall. It just happens. If you really like Derek, tell him. You’re wasting time not being with him.” She said, flipping a page again. “Just call him and invite him over.”
I laughed. “yeah right.” I got up from the bed to get a water bottle and when I came back Delilah had a wicked msile on her face.
“Guess what I just did?”
“no!” I yelled at her.
“yes. He’s coming over in a bit. I told him we were all watching a movie.”
“Delilah!”
She giggled.

We both jumped up when we heard the knock at the door.
“you get it.” I said to Delilah. She put the bowl of popcorn down and pranced over to the door. I watched as Derek walked shyly behind her and took a seat across from me. this isn’t how friends are supposed to be around each other, I thought. there shouldn’t be a vibe like this. “hey.” He smiled and looked at me for half a second. I smiled back and watched as Delilah put the DVD in and walked away to the room.
“Where you going?” I asked her, sounding like i was a 3 year old without her mother for the first time.
“Phonecall.” She replied and closed the door on her.
I looked up at Derek who had a small smirk on his cute face.

In the middle of the movie, I decided to check up on Delilah and found her fast asleep. “you’re a bit/ch.” I whispered and went back to find Derek where I was sitting.
“hey! You took my spot!” I said, hands on my waste.
He made room for me in the tiny love seat and patted it three times with a grin on his face.
“thief.” I said and sat down next to him, inhaling his cologne.
I sat down inches away from him with my arms wrapped around my bare legs.
“that was a good movie and I bet you’ve seen it a few hundred times.” He laughed and put a handful of popcorn in his mouth.
“thousand times.” I corrected him, reaching for some popcorn.
We caught each other’s eye and both looked away quickly, it was beginning to get a bit uncomfortable when I felt my heart jump into my stomach.
He looked at me while I stared at the floor.
“I really like you.” he said, losing all the shyness he had a few minutes ago, even in his voice.
I picked my head up and met his big green eyes. “but you knew all along because…look at you.”
I reached over and kissed him.
“I didn’t know all along.” I then said after a few seconds.
