    cb2.com
On the map. Los Angeles navigates a graphic love letter to the City of Angels in a hand-inked original design. In a time-intensive process that takes approximately 12 hours, artist Dan Elliott cuts stencils and applies ink to reveal the words "Robust American Love" and "Los Angeles." Each unique piece is made using a vintage map of the city. In urban graffiti style, the text speaks to romanticized notions of California, especially Los Angeles, where Elliott imagines to be "always warm, always perfect, everyone always beautiful and always on the beach". Dan elliott. Artist Dan Elliott explores letterpress printing and mixed media to create designs that he describes in contradictory terms: Clean and messy, clear and abstract, simple and complex. Based in North Carolina, Elliott's work is largely influenced by the history of art and graphic design—from the Arts and Crafts movement of the late 19th-century and avant-garde styles of the early 20th-century to Gutenberg's first moveable type press. In this expressive, abstract composition Liz Jardine experimented with media and new ways of applying paint to canvas. Using multiple layers of gesso to create a very ground, she spilled on layers of acrylic paints, metallic glazes and ink, rotating and tilting the surface to allow the paints to drip and mix. Giclée print of the original is cleanly framed in a white ash with a hand-rubbed ebony finish.

  • Aubrey Bodine Photography, Skyscraper 1
    williams-sonoma.com
Regarded as one of the finest pictorialists of the twentieth century, Aubrey Bodine's photos have been exhibited in hundreds of shows and scores of museums. A newspaperman, he covered a variety of stories with his camera—news events, famous people and unusual places—all of which gave him the opportunity to travel and learn. Out of his experiences came remarkable documentary photos, which won him top honors in national and international competitions. Many of his pictures were composed in the viewfinder of the camera, while others were manipulated with dyes and intensifiers and through pencil marking and scraping techniques. He strongly believed that the quality of the final picture was more important than the manner in which it was made. This limited-edition, black and white print has a bold architectural focus. 43"W x 41"H overall. Giclée printed on glossy paper. Limited edition, signed by the artist.
