Hey everyone, Lana here :)
Okay, so firstly, I’d like to apologise for not making a set for almost 2 weeks!!! I had a message from @to-infinity-and-beyondxx reminding me haha!
So I hope this set is worth the wait. I will be doing a review on things that have come out in 2012, or have really made a mark in 2012. With 2012’s time ticking down the drain slowly, coming to an end. It’s going to be anything and everything from music, fashion trends, perfumes and make up and whatever else. Before I begin though I’d like to just say that these are my personal reviews, and some things I will say you might not agree with, but that’s just my opinion. Also, if I don’t review everything, my apologies. So, without further ado, here is my 2012 review.

Music:
So 2012 has been an interesting year in music. Indie music has really made a comeback, along with all new albums really showing a new side of the artist.

Birdy – Birdy: Well, what can I say about Birdy? She’s talented. Her ability to sing songs with a very sweet and innocent voice and play them on the piano is very powerful. Birdy’s music is very alternative. Her songs are all piano ballads, which for any piano lover is perfect. Birdy’s voice is something I’m quite jealous of, being an alto singer. However, Birdy’s songs are not Birdy’s songs. They are originals which she has made into her own. Now this is fine. But Birdy has not acknowledged the original artists. Artists like Bon Iver, Naked & The Famous, The xx, The National and Phoenix are not receiving any credit for their songs. It’s quite sad that covers are getting more fame than the originals. Birdy is a very talented artist, but what she has done is quite unfair by not acknowledging original artists. To me, this is a form of Copyright, for which regular people get in trouble for.
My Favourite Song: Skinny Love
Rate: 5/10

Red – Taylor Swift: Our country princess has taken a very different approach for her 4th album, turning it into a more pop rather than country album. This may be good news for many pop/dance fans; however her album no longer has a very country feel to it. I’m not saying all her songs are now like this. There are still very country songs such as “Begin Again” and “The Last Time” (and this is only naming a few) but Taylor’s music has changed. I’m sure everybody has heard her singles “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and “I Knew You Were Trouble” and I think we can all agree that the country genre is not in these songs. However, her album is now a good mix of the both, making it quite the album for both pop/dance and country fans.
My Favourite Song: Red
Rate: 9/10

Believe – Justin Bieber: Justin’s music has also changed. His songs in his previous albums were much more innocent. Soulful, pop and R&B sounds used to be his. However, Justin’s switched it up and made this album more pop, more rap. His album features a number of artists like Nicki Minaj, Ludcaris, Big Sean and Drake. To me, this spells repetition. Most of his songs sound the same to me, and they are about the same thing. Justin has grown up and he’s not innocent anymore, and this is quite sad. But if you are a true Belieber, you’ll love this no matter what.
My Favourite Song: As Long As You Love Me
Rate: 4/10

Hello My Name Is… - Bridget Mendler: If anybody watches “Good Luck Charlie” and has seen the Disney Channel Original Movie “Lemonade Mouth”, I’m sure that you were as surprised as I was when Bridget Mendler’s new album came out. Bridget’s voice in the show and movie gives you the impression of a very innocent voice. However, when I first heard her single “Ready or Not” I thought it was Nicki Minaj singing. Bridget’s songs for me fall under the rap genre, and unlike many Disney stars before her, she has taken a very different approach to her music. It’s a very new sound for me, and I’ve started to really like it. She opens up completely, showing everyone a new side to her innocent self she portrays as Teddy Duncan.
My Favourite Song: Forgot To Laugh
Rate: 8/10

Take Me Home – One Direction: They really haven’t changed. The boys have the same variety of slow songs and pop songs as in their previous album, and they are all about girls. I really don’t have much to say about this album, other than if you are a Directioner, you’ll continue loving them.
My Favourite Song: Little Things
Rate: 6/10

Unapologetic – Rihanna: Rihanna has let herself go, completely. This album is her most explicit yet. If you expected anything like her first single “Umbrella” back in 2007, you’re in for it! Her first single “Diamonds” is her most innocent song on the album. Personally, I think this sort of image suits Rihanna more than innocent, but that is everybody’s preference. Her sound is very R&B, Rap and Dance.
My Favourite Song: Right Now (feat. David Guetta)
Rate: 7/10

Fashion Trends of 2012:
So really, fashion has surprised, impressed and disgusted me in various ways this year.

High-waisted short shorts:
So I think this trend was the most disgusting of them all. Walking down the street, you see girls in shorts covering more above than below. Just today I saw a girl with half her but hanging out. There is nothing wrong with high waisted shorts, but high waisted short shorts is a trend that needs to leave, like, NOW!

Crop Tops:
Crop tops, in my opinion, are under garments. I don’t see anything wrong with wearing a transparent top or something similar with crop tops, but alone, it just looks like you forgot to put on a shirt. It is still barely acceptable to wear when a girl has a great figure, but if you have the slightest curve, it just looks wrong. Save these for UNDER your clothes.

Peplum:
So peplum has made a huge comeback, and it’s a great trend. It dresses and plain skirt, dress or top up. However, girls with fuller figures (especially around the wait/hip/butt area) should avoid peplum because it does give the illusion of fuller hips.

Printed Leggings:
I love printed leggings/jeans. It makes any outfit super fun. With jeans, anything can go, however, leggings need to be worn with longer tops. I find it uncomfortable when a girl is wearing leggings and a short top that doesn’t cover her bum because it’s just like wearing tights. Again, girls with the perfect figure can just get away with this, but girls with curves need to find longer tops if they wish to wear them.
Rate: 8/10

Collars:
This trend has come all the way back from the 40’s, and it’s so beautiful. It always adds class to any outfit, whether it is a top or a dress donning the collar. People have also gone as far as creating collar style necklaces to put on top of outfits. This trend is one that should definitely stick around.

Anyway, it’s nearly 2013 (1 hour and 18 minutes to go!!!)
Hope 2013 is filled with joy, happiness and prosperity! ♥
