Wounded Healers

Wounded Healers

"Everyone is hurting, but Jesus is healing. Comforting us that we may comfort others."
This is a group for those in need of art therapy as they express emotions and the aftermath of abuses. This group exalts Jesus as the ultimate Healer and Friend, and provides a place to lend support as we pass through grief, healing, and coming to the place we can once again give life to others. This is a place for wounded people who desire to become healers. Art therapy can assist in that process.
If you have questions, feel free to ask one of the moderators.

The Sum of Us: A DID group

The Sum of Us: A DID group

This is a group for trauma and abuse survivors who have DID (dissociative identity disorder). We ask that only people with DID, or another dissociative disorder not otherwise specified, join this group. If you are not certain but think you might be DID, you are welcome to come here and explore. We want this to be a safe place to express ourselves and not worry about being accepted, invalidated, or thought crazy.
Here we can process all the stuff we might ordinarily suppress for fear of acceptance. Because of the nature of processing trauma, emotions may be quite strong BUT WE CAN PROCESS WITHOUT THE USE OF PROFANITY.
All sets need to stay within Polyvore's guidelines - no graphic sex, exposed genitalia, etc.
Please make your safety your priority. Many people use asterisks to warn of content that might be triggering. Each of us must decide whether we want to look or not. I hope that if anyone is triggered you will consult your mental health practitioner. And if you feel endangered please tell someone or call 911 immediately.
And let us be kind and supportive of all members. Everyone must feel safe in order to fully explore what we need to.
So start processing amidst old and new friends. You will find a lot of caring and support here. All member's sets are welcome, it doesn't only have to be trauma sets. :)
Welcome! Let's make this a fantastic group for all of us. :)

Survivors Art Gallery

Survivors Art Gallery

I decided to make a group especially for the art made by survivors. If you are a survivor of any form of trauma or abuse then please share your art with us. You are welcome to share anything you like here. I first thought about no trauma sets but for many survivors who are healing all their art is about their trauma in one way or another. I want everyone to feel welcome here and be able to share your art. You may post trauma sets but also art sets. You may post your templates... whatever is important to you.
Survivors have a special beauty within them and it comes out in their art. I have been thinking for awhile that I want to make this group. I would like to see the beautiful art here that is made by survivors.
I only ask that you follow the polyvore community guidelines
Other groups you may want to consider joining is "Silent no more" for those who have a inner child and need to give her/him a voice....
or "The Sum of Us: A DID group"...
Come on everyone!! Don't hesitate to join!! I want this to be full of beautiful art!! I want each of you to be a part of it!!

Adult Survivors of Abuse

Adult Survivors of Abuse

This group is for ADULTS dealing with issues of abuse (childhood and/or beyond). For that reason we have an application entry. We ask that you describe briefly your reason for joining the group. There are reasons for joining other than being a survivor. We welcome new members warmly and you will find support and acceptance.
Art therapy can help release or express feelings. For those dealing with dissociation, trauma art is welcome. This is a place to share our trauma and healing art.
Feel free to express yourselves. The only limitation is that we all try to avoid explicit images that might be construed as pornographic and endure the wrath of Polyvore. Nudity appears to be fine in the context of art, but displaying the male anatomy might be misinterpreted by outsiders. Using a metaphor is preferred. If you feel strongly that you must use a certain image, maybe try to cover most of it? It is possible that those of us with fragile emotions may "hear" a Polyvore reprimand as something devastating and we don't want that.

Along the lines of fragile emotions be supportive of members and encourage them to wait for their own answers. We want to provide insight to consider or to share our experience and hope. However we want to avoid giving interpretation on others sets or interjecting what they should believe.

A number of members have DID (extreme dissociation and amnesia for horrific childhood abuse). Their sets can be very graphic at times. While you do not all have to look at every other members set you may come across them when browsing. We work together to support each other so you might see messages about triggering and programming. If you feel that might be too intense for you, there is a group called Polyvore Art Therapy where members deal with intense emotions but not necessarily the intensity we do.

With regard to triggers: Due to the nature of abuse issues we have members who will possibly find themselves feeling triggered by certain images or word. We want every member to be responsible for keeping themselves safe. This may mean not looking at certain sets. Each of us has to be aware of our own limitations.
Welcome to the group! If you need help, please contact Cindyfaye, Sunnys-System or Mishmashed
