This was not requested, but I feel like EVERYBODY should know how they can fix their toms, because the truth is.... they DO get ratty and torn after a while. I have the classic red tom that I've had since early spring 2011, and they are already dirty and have a big hole in the big toe of my right shoe. NOT DISSING TOMS. I can understand why they'd be ratty after climbing trees, dancing, stepping in puddles, and walking around every day in them. :P So.... Continue reading to learn how you can save the life of your beloved friend Tom! :D
CLEANING YOUR TOMS:
Take a bucket of cold water and some gentle detergent and dump your toms right in. Slosh 'em around for a good minute, then take them out to dry on a towel or to hang dry on some clothes pins. BEWARE: If you have an extreme fright of seeing light brown water, skip this step, and consider seeking a therapist. Or, if you are a little hesitant about drowning Tom, you can just get a rag, wet it with water and detergent, and just wipe him. MAKE SURE to wipe the inside and the outside of the sole, as that gets the dirtiest. Tom makes your feet get stinky, as I have found out, so really clean the sole.
PATCHING YOUR TOMS:
I have also found that I am terrible at explaining sewing deets, so I'll just let you check out this nice lady's blog post.
My ginger Tom really needs to be taken to the hospital.... :'(
