An incredible 1980's Alaïa black and white houndstooth denim jacket. The jacket has a double lapel collar and two rows of metal buttons down the front. The buttons are decorated with black enamel and a silver star. The left-hand row of buttons fasten up the front of the jacket while the left hand row are decorative. A hidden pocket sits on either side of the chest, just below the lapels, and fastens with zips. A half belt sits on each side of the waist and fastens with a buckle that can be adjusted to change the size slightly. At the back of the jacket there are two corset style, laced panels from the hem to the mid back. The jacket is fitted across the shoulders and bust, pulling in at the waist and flaring to just above the hips. This jacket is in excellent condition with some discolouration and decoration missing on the bottom right button. Shoulders: 49cm Bust: 92cm Waist: 72cm Length: 53cm Azzedine Alaïa launched his first ready-to-wear collection in 1980. It featured tightly fitted pieces, which stood in stark contrast to the baggier styles that were popular throughout the decade. This earned Alaia the title of 'King of cling' within the fashion industry and made him popular with clients such as Naomi Campbell, Stephanie Seymour, Madonna and Raquel Welsh. This jacket is truly amazing piece. It would look great teamed with skinny leather trousers or leggings and platform shoes for day or evening. It will look equally as good over a mini dress or with a white t-shirt and jeans. The corset-style back gives it a touch of added sex appeal.
