  • Alessi - Bulla Bottle Opener
    connox.com
The designer Valerio Sommella created a unusual bottle opener which unifies form and function harmonically, inspired by the natural shape of mussels that are turned in on themselves. The pleasant form of Bulla doesn’t show its content on the first sight. It is a practical item, which opens bottles, being pleasant to be touched as well. The polished stainless steel surface of the turned mussel is noble and elegant. The practical leather handles harmonically contrast the polished surface of Bulla and make it easy to hang it in the kitchen or the bar. Bulla can also be used as key-ring or piece of jewellery (on a chain for example), for you to have it whenever you need it. Valerio Sommella unified sculptural and functional elements in an appealing item: ”…This was my starting point, the lure of smooth shapes, the idea that some of these forms can incidentally also have a function without necessarily declaring it explicitly. From all this comes a compact steel Bottle opener that feels like holding a smooth shell in your hand, an organic shape with variable thicknesses that comes to life in the light, whose reflections allow its form to be fully perceived.” Valerio Sommella.

  • A di Alessi - Diabolix Bottle Opener

The Bottle Opener Diabolix by A di Alessi comes in a shape of a laughing devils face and opens every crown cap-closure in in no time at all. In the mouth of the devils face are teeth, which bat in the crown caps and make the opening of every bottle a lot easier. The bended handle customises itself perfectly to the hand and is nice to hold. At the same time, it seems that smoke would come out of Diabolix or the magic latern. This boosts the phantasyful design, which is indicated through the head of the opener. The Diablix Bottle Opener is also available in the colours blue, green, and red.

  • Officina Alessi - Socrates Corkscrew
    connox.com
The Philosophy of Wine With the Socrates corkscrew, the designer Jasper Morrison gets nearer to the archetype corkscrew. The corkscrew renounces every unnecessary detail and it focuses on the absolutely essential. Furthermore the Socrates corkscrew humorously refers to its name giver, the ancient philosopher Socrates and his so-called Socratic Method. The Socratic Method is a method to reach knowledge and recognize the essential answers in a conversation. Just as the philosopher wanted to extract the real recognition with his method of communication in a conversation, the corkscrew Socrates also helps to reach the important core – and this finally is the insert of a bottle when it is opened. Corkscrew by Jasper Morrison This makes the corkscrew from Jasper Morrison from the Officina Alessi collection a humorous confrontation with a complex topic in a sophisticated design. With this it corresponds to the Officina Alessi collection credo from which the most demanding and noble products from the Alessi house appear.

  • A di Alessi - Corkscrew Alessandro M
    connox.com
Maybe Alessandro Mendini was jealous of the success from „Anna G.“, that he decided to delight us with his figure “Alessandro M.”. As it is doubtlessly easily recognisable, this corkscrew is the self-portrait of the designer. Also if it looks easy, it was anything but that to originate a new character that could both fit in the autobiographic happenings of the designer and in the international designer sceneries. Alessandro (the designer) designed the project and gave his creation a clear, different and complementary identity at the same time comparing to his from now on renowned companion (Anna G.). “Alessandro M.” is not least also a product that has to offer various novelties: Besides the standard version that is available in two different colours, there are also ranges of Haute-couture seasons collections. This is a form of tailor-made dresses, of collections that go with the today’s fashion and that are manufactured in limited editions – determined to be collected and following the seasonal fashion rhythm.
