Tuesday: Picnic with Tristan
My hair whipped in my face as the Dubai breeze grew harsher. A storm like this didn't come very often. We were supposed to take advantage of it, for the flowers and such, but not on a day when I had a picnic in the park planned with Tristan. I walked faster to his office building. I reached the awning and lowered my umbrella, shaking the raindrops off. I closed the clasp and stomped my feet. I immediately regretted open toe heels, as I entered the building.
"Morning Ms. Crocks!" Katie, Tristan's assistant chirped, handing me a steaming mug of coffee. "Mr. Drews requested that this be given to you immediately." She smiled. I took the mug and drew it to my lips, sipping quietly.
"He knows I'm here?" I asked, lowering the mug from my glossed lips.
"Sure does!" I thanked her and walked over to the glass doors, which separated Tristan's office from the rest of the company's floor. I knocked softly and he smiled, standing from her mahogany wood desk and motioning for me to come in. I pushed the door open and dropped my clutch on the white plush chair closest to the door. He hugged me tightly, and then pulled me to the large, beautiful glass window, looking over the center of Dubai. It's stunning view got me every time.
"Looks like our picnic is a no go, huh?" He asked, picking me up and setting me down on the lavender window seat. I nodded sorrowfully.
"It's so sad. I packed a whole lunch." I said, frowning. He peeked inside the picnic basket and smiled, inhaling the scents.
"Well, we can't let this go to waste, now can we?" I shook my head, a smile playing onto my lips. He picked me up and set me down on the floor, spreading out the checkered blanket I had brought.
"Tristan, not in your office!" I giggled.
"Why not?" He asked, shrugging. "It is //my// office!" I rolled my eyes playfully, but nodded OK, I wasn't going to pass something as sweet as this up. I reached into the basket and pulled out two sandwiches wrapped in tin foil and set them down on the blanket, followed by a plate of salad, homemade sweet potato fries, and a bottle of lemonade.
"Oh, yum!" He said, reaching for one of the sandwiches. I stood up and walked over to the chair where I had placed my clutch earlier. I reached in and pulled out a bottle of bud light.
"For you my darling." I said, handing him the beer and sitting back down, in a full locus.
"Thank you dear." He cracked open the bottle and took a long sip before handing it to me. I declined. "You know you want some!" I gave in and took the bottle from him, taking a short sip. The bubbles popped in my mouth, burning my tongue in an amazing way.
"Well, thank you." I said handing him the bottle. I unwrapped my sandwich and took a bite, tomato juice dribbling down my chin. He used a napkin to wipe it off, before kissing my lips hard and passionately. He pulled away and kissed my forehead.
"So, what are you doing this afternoon?" Tristan asked, pulling up his sleeve and checking his watch. He looked back at me.
"El, Nat, and I are going to go visit Lav and Rob in the hospital. Alex emailed me last night and said that he, Rob, and Ly want us to be there." I said, reaching for a fry. I put it in my mouth letting the heat burn my tongue. I reached up onto his desk for my coffee, feeling for where I had left it. "You want to come?" I ask, finding it and pulling it down for a sip. He shakes his head.
"As much as I would love to see Rob and everyone, I have a meeting with a really important client, right about... now!" I look at my watch and realized time had flown by and I should have been at the hospital ten minutes ago!
"I've got to run!" I said standing up and reaching for my clutch. He gave me a peck on the lips and I exited his office, running.
