One of my favorite tools to use when I’m feeling frazzled, stressed, or uncomfortable in any way is appreciation. No matter where I am, I look around and pick one thing to appreciate. I focus on this thing and appreciate how pretty it is, how useful it is, how attractive it is, how good it tastes, how good it smells, how it makes the world seem brighter…

I also appreciate people in the same way, focusing on how attractive, resourceful, kind, funny, or generous they are.

The most amazing thing happens when you start doing this; your feelings of stress or irritation start fading away and within minutes you feel very uplifted and happy. Try it the next time you need an emotional boost.
