  • Geiger® Rolled Arm™ Club Chair
    hivemodern.com
Design Ward Bennett. Wood, foam, upholstery. Made in the USA by Geiger® "I am interested in the essence, the bones, in contrast to surface ornament. In any product I ask myself, does it work? Will it last?" -Ward Bennett. Ward Bennett's work has had a lasting impact on designers interested in achieving contemporary, understated luxury. His sensuous yet minimal Rolled Arm Sofa, a modern version of the classic chesterfield, has universal appeal and can move from residential to commercial spaces with ease. Its generous, low-slung, architecturally scaled volumes and crisply mitered upholstery provide a graceful silhouette. Perched on recessed solid wood legs and produced in walnut or ash, Rolled Arm is available in three sofa sizes or as a club chair. Ward Bennett's story is a remarkable one. His career began at age 13, when he quit school to work in the garment district in New York City. At 15, he designed his first clothing collection; at 16 he left for Europe, where he continued working on fashions. Simplicity and comfort were always his goals. Bennett designed more than 150 chairs, many of which have become classics. He is considered the first American to use industrial materials for home furnishings, well before the high-tech look of the 1970s became popular. He was hailed by the American Institute of Architects for "transforming industrial hardware into sublime objects." Many of Bennett's designs are in the Museum of Modern Art's permanent collection as well as in the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum; he is also in Interior Design magazine's Hall of Fame. The Rolled Arm club chair features walnut or ash legs offered in your choice of a variety of upholstery options. Rolled Arm club chair: 32.5" d | 43" w | 24.75" h | seat: 16" h.

  • Anne Rosenberg Dash Floor Pillow
    dwr.com
A scholar in religion and art history, Anne Rosenberg didn’t take a traditional path to becoming a designer. In fact, she didn’t even study design in school. Fascinated by different cultures, she often travels from her native Denmark to off-the-beaten-path locations around the world, absorbing different ways of living in each place. These are the experiences she draws from when creating her textiles, inspired to share what she has seen. To create her Dash Floor Pillow (2012), Rosenberg uses pure cotton that is organically grown and verified by a third party. She designs all her own forms and patterns, then has them printed locally in Denmark by a family-run company that’s been in business for more than 120 years. Cushion cover is removable for dry cleaning. Textile printed in Denmark; pillow made in Lithuania.
