  • Stephen Kenn Parallel Leather Armchair - Black Leather & Polished Nickel
    shophorne.com
Los Angeles based designer Stephen Kenn has long been inspired by clean and simple design aesthetics and the stories inherent in vintage military fabrics. In 2011 he combined those two loves by creating The Inheritance Collection. The collection was the result of an exploration of how furniture is constructed, and then a desire to distill the process down to the barest bones. Likening the process of furniture construction to the way the human body is constructed, the frame, belts, and cushions became the bones, muscles, and skin of each piece. Ultra soft black calfskin cushion covers, black cotton webbing and leather belts interwoven atop a polished nickel frame. Made in Los Angeles, the collection is inspired by the characteristic principles of Soviet Modernism and bold interpretations of Brutalist Architecture through the simplification of form, receptive angular geometries and functional design.

  • Philippe Starck Louis Ghost Chair, Set of 2
    dwr.com
Who else but Philippe Starck would dare mess with a king? Reinventing the classic Louis XVI armchair for Kartell, the playful Louis Ghost Armchair (2002) is a postmodern triumph of technical innovation and historical style. Translating the varied lines and formal geometry of its predecessor into a single form of injection-molded polycarbonate, the Louis Ghost is a robust chair with a medallion backrest for leisurely comfort. When interviewed about the collection by the Dallas Morning News, Starck commented that it “has a mix ofand styles based on our shared memories. We all own this piece in a way. The chair is well balanced; I try to be balanced myself.” Suitable for indoor and outdoor use in residential and commercial settings. Stacks six high. Made in Italy. Sold as a Set of 2. The single-piece injection-molding process used in making every Ghost Chair leaves behind several faint artifacts that are perfectly normal, not defects.

With the Paimio Armchair the finish Architect and designer Alvar Aalto succeeded in finding the perfect balance between abstraction, tradition and natural influence. The Paimio Armchair was drafted in 1931 and is one of the most established designer articles of Alvar Aaltos, who designed this “Architecture Accessories ” as he called his own furniture, for the lung clinic lounges he planned, in Paimio in southwest Finland. The ergonomic and design revolutionary armchair allowed the lung clinic patients an optimal sitting posture, in which they could breathe easily and also enjoy the warming sun. The comfortable armchair fast became the figurehead of the clinic, which is why it is still worldwide known by its name Paimio. The Artek Company produces the Paimio Armchair of birch veneer. What makes this chair special is its sitting and backrest form in one piece, which gives a simple but extremely expressive drawn-line to the armchair, and gives a waveform impression to the room. As organic basic forms, waves can be found in many of Alvar Aaltos works, whether it be his well known glass vase for Iitalia, his buildings or just his furniture. It is not by accident that Alvar Aalto is deemed to be the one of the most important organic architecture and design representatives. Thereby he preferred to work with wood, letting nature and the environment specialities enter his oeuvre. Artek offers white or black painted seat Paimio Armchairs. • Skargaarden Haringe Armchair
    shophorne.com
The Haringe series of teak furniture is refined elegance for indoors, outdoors or anything in between. The sophistication of the series makes it ideal for around the swimming pool, in the game room or just about anywhere. The teak slats are framed with either stainless steel or black stainless steel. The cushions are given a sophisticated touch through the use of buttons and decorative stitching so they are not waterproof but the beauty is still undeniable. The cushions are available in either a weather durable Sunbrella fabric or in imitation leather with loose patches sewn together by hand and buttons added along the seams. The leather cushions are for indoor use only. The series has an armchair, lounge chair, sofa, and cocktail tables in 2 sizes as well as 3 sizes of a dining table. As with all teak furniture, to maintain the original luster the teak requires to be oiled once or twice a year. If left untreated the wood will develop a silvery gray patina which is equally beautiful.

  • Jeffrey Bernett and Nicholas Dodziuk Raleigh Armchair in Leather
    dwr.com
Raleigh (2009) is a comfortable collection that draws from midcentury Danish design. It features an exposed solid wood frame that wraps around the back (be sure to click on additional views above to see it) to support the seating area while lending visual lightness and satisfying tension to the whole. Unlike other exposed-frame collections that force overly upright sitting positions, Raleigh is designed with a carefully canted seatback for a more natural way of situating yourself as you relax and unwind. We chose to work with Jeffrey Bernett and Nicholas Dodziuk on this project because of the importance they place on people – how they move, interact, live and, most of all, sit. The Raleigh Collection received Interior Design magazine’s top honor for 2010 in the residential lounge category. Made in U.S.A.

Alvar and his wife Aino Aalto won the competition producing the chair in the colours turquoise and orange-red in its beginnings. The manufacturer Artek suggests a wet cloth for cleaning the wooden products. Also soapy water can be used if needed. In the end the bench should be rubbed as dry as possible with a dry tissue. • Artek - Karuselli Lounge Chair
    connox.com
One of the most famous designs of Yrjö Kukkapuro is the Karuselli Lounge Chair, which is produced by Artek according to the original designs since 2014. The lounge chair designed by Charles & Ray Eames in 1956 represents the whole category of the lounge chairs and it also inevitably influenced the design by Yrjö Kukkapuro and the Karuselli Lounge Chair. But unlike Eames, Kukkapuro used fiberglass instead of wood for the seat of the opulent armchair, offering a curved shape to it, which perfectly adapts to the user’s body. The additionally big leather cushioning makes the chair even more comfortable. The name of the chair was given to it because of the metal hooks, with which the chair can easily be turned or rocked. It is available in white and with a suitable ottoman as well.
