Actively participating in juried exhibitions to benchmark himself, his works have been selected into the 139th and 140th American Watercolor Society (AWS) Annual International Juried Exhibition at New York and its national travel show; and the 15th Oil Painters of America (OPA) Annual National Juried Exhibition. His painting just won the Best of Show in Singapore Open National Juried Show 2007 by Singapore Art Society. His artworks have been featured in leading art publications i.e. The Artist's Magazine and Watercolor Magic. He was frequently invited to participate in Florence Biennale and exhibited in 2003. His most recent article, 'A Perfect Stroke' is published in The Artist's Magazine, October 2004. Woon's artworks are collected by serious art collectors in both public and private sectors across US, Canada, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, China, Macau, France, UK, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Norway, Cypress, Mexico and Australia. Influenced by John Singer Sargent, Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet and Edgar Degas, Woon uses his insightful hand, brush and pigment to bring life to passionate landscapes, cityscapes and inspirational moments in time. A modern impressionist and colorist at heart, Woon employs rich color and lively brushstrokes to create his vibrant paintings. His color and brushstrokes reveal his strong sense of composition and feeling for dramatic light and shadow. Working primarily with watercolors and oil, Woon finds the richness of palette to be perfect in exerting his personal feelings. “As an artist, I regard colors and brush strokes as my form of language. I use them to communicate with my viewers. The dialog between the viewers and me enhances the inner strength of my art pieces. The basic building block of my works is concrete artistic concepts blended with my personal mark making. I have strong passion for the impressionist and post impressionist sense of colors. The endless possibility of color combination flows well with the spontaneous emotional response of me as an artist. Chinese landscape painting design composition extended my design needs and serves as fruitful ground for new ideas.”
