"Ocean Beach" bangle in 18K gold plated brass and cotton and lurex threads-1cm Droplets of turquoise splash the jewellery like a spray, necklaces and earrings are adorned with mimosa and bay leaves, bracelets mimic the movement of waves, shells sway at the end of coloured threads …Inspired by California and its legendary laid-back lifestyle, Aurélie Bidermann has produced a 2013 spring-summer collection based on the colours of the Pacific Coast. The palette used – blues and watery greens, coral –, the raw and slightly rough textures, the ever-present 18-carat gold: all elements work together to make this collection a miniature, sun-drenched coastal scene. The gold has a slightly aged appearance, as if exposed to salt or wind for some time. And shark teeth - a well-known good luck charm for superstitious surfers - are to be found on the jewellery. In addition to the Do Brasil range - which has become one of the brand's classics with its braiding of cotton threads and silver gilt - totally new items have just been added to Aurélie Bidermann's ‘wardrobe’. Ocean Beach flat bracelets take shelter under a gold thread and blue or pink silk covering, whilst the Waikiki bracelet poses as a beach chain bracelet, hollowed out and encrusted with green enamel using a highly sophisticated technique. The Miki Dora range - long necklaces, chains, bracelets, rings and signet rings - remind us of nautical ropes, left free-falling or braided and knotted together, as flexible as gorse stems. The Sunset long necklace, also available as a cuff and drop earrings, is studded with almond-shaped turquoise - sunsets over the ocean.
