  • Jeffrey Bernett, Nicholas Dodziuk and Piotr Woronkowicz Parallel Queen Bed in Leather, Oak
    dwr.com
Designer Jeffrey Bernett was being a bit cheeky with the name of his Parallel Bedroom Collection (2013), given that it features beds with headboards shaped more like trapezoids. However, we think the name still fits because this is indeed a collection without parallel when it comes to choices. You can equip your bed with a standard or extra-wide headboard, oak or walnut frame and fabric or leather upholstery, then opt for side tables and under-bed storage, as well as dressers tall and wide. Parallel is more than a bed – it’s a system for an entire room. Assembly required for beds. Made in U.S.A.

  • Stephen Kenn Encounter Leather Sofa - Brown Leather & Antique Brass
    shophorne.com
Los Angeles based designer Stephen Kenn has long been inspired by clean and simple design aesthetics and the stories inherent in vintage military fabrics. In 2011 he combined those two loves by creating The Inheritance Collection. The collection was the result of an exploration of how furniture is constructed, and then a desire to distill the process down to the barest bones. Likening the process of furniture construction to the way the human body is constructed, the frame, belts, and cushions became the bones, muscles, and skin of each piece. A special sofa made from soft vegetable tanned leather. The back side of the leather is stained olive green, and the belts are olive green webbing with antique brass buckles. This piece is slightly taller and shallower than the usual Stephen Kenn sofadesign, but has the same lasting durability as everything they make.

Her Lounge Collection (1954) has the simple, architectural lines and unparalleled construction of all modern classics. This Two-Seater Sofa is manufactured by Knoll® according to the original and exacting specifications of the designer. Lounge Collection includes the Lounge Chair, Two-Seater Sofa and Sofa. • Artek Pirkka Table
    shophorne.com
Ilimari Tapiovaara was committed to designing furniture for a much broader market. His goal was to produce quality inexpensive furniture that was made from materials that were readily available in Finland. The rustic simplicity and smaller structure made the Pirkka Collection very popular for use in the smaller homes in the post war era of the 1950s. The Pirkka Collection is made of solid wood with simple, clean lines which make for stylish functionality. The wood is joined together using no screws making it remarkably lightweight. The rustic table carries with it the aesthetic appeal of modern design even 50 years later. The table is available in a variety of lengths making it ideal for several different locations. The bench can be paired with the table or used as a stand lone piece. The wider than usual width makes it a comfortable seat. The side chair also pairs well with the table but can stand on its own and the stool completes the set and is available in 4 heights to make it even more versatile. The seats and table top are stained pine with a black stained solid birch frame.

    dwr.com
The team of Jeffrey Bernett and Nicholas Dodziuk is known for creating amazing sofas and beds, which is why we’re excited to introduce a collection that combines both. The Vesper Sleeper Sofa (2014) delivers the wide, deep, comfortable seating expected in a sofa, plus an easy-to-fold-out bed that’s as comfortable and large as your regular mattress. Fitted with a patented conversion mechanism, the Vesper mattress rests entirely on a wooden platform, which means you won’t feel the sturdy crossbar underneath. dwr.com
“I have always been inspired by the simple forms of turntables and entertainment units from the 1960s,” says designer Nathan Yong – a remarkable statement when you learn that Yong grew up in a wooden hut by the sea, where he and his brother made their own toys and “waited for low tides so we could pick up treasures from the shore.” Growing up with the beach as entertainment, Yong developed into a resourceful designer, whose work captivated us with its quiet elegance. At Salone del Mobile , the annual furniture fair in Milan, Yong showed us his Line Media Console, and we liked the aesthetic so much that we asked him to expand the collection. He responded with a range of versatile pieces that blur the boundaries between dining areas, living rooms and workspaces. A smart office storage option, the Line File Pedestal (2012) has a louvered drawer with compartment tray for stationery and supplies and a louvered file drawer for storing letter- and legal-size hanging folders. Fitted with locking casters for mobility and stability. Made in Malaysia.

Eoos is a studio based in Vienna that was founded in 1995 by designers Martin Bergmann, Gernot Bohmann and Harald Gründl. The name is a playful variant of Eous, one of the four chariot horses of sun god Helios, according to Greek mythology. It was the first that resonated with the trio after they spotted it in a copy of Ovid’s Metamorphoses that just so happened to be lying around their office, chosen in part for the way a horse’s erratic jaunts evoke a designer’s irregular everyday forays into the conceptual. Eoos has won more than 70 international awards, including the Compasso d’Oro. Its Crosshatch Chair (2014) balances a visually light aesthetic with sturdy construction, consisting of parachute cord precisely wrapped around a solid wooden frame and seat bottom. The chair imparts the feeling of being suspended in a cozy nest, with a slightly canted back for ample comfort and support. Crosshatch works well in both living areas and office spaces. • Eero Saarinen Saarinen Executive Armchair with Metal Legs - Leather
    dwr.com
The design of Eero Saarinen's Executive Armchair (1950) began more than a decade earlier, when he and Charles Eames submitted several designs to the Organic Design in Home Furnishings competition at the MoMA. The pair, who'd been friends and collaborators since meeting at Cranbrook Academy of Art, won first prize. These fluid, sculptural shapes influenced the future work of both men; for Saarinen, most notably in his Womb, Tulip and Executive chairs. The Executive was originally made of fiberglass but was later updated in polyurethane to take advantage of the technical advances in plastics. The feel of this classic seat, however, remains unchanged. The molded shell flexes slightly with the sitter and the contoured plywood seat supported by metal or wood legs. Unlike Saarinen's furniture, which was consistently sculptural in form, these fluid lines didn't appear in his architecture until the 1950s. When looking at the dome-shaped glass wall of the Kresge Auditorium at MIT, it's not a big leap to see the same shape in the back of his Executive Chair. This chair is Greenguard Indoor Air Quality Certified¿ for its use of low-emitting products. Manufactured by Knoll according to the original and exacting specifications of the designer. Made in U.S.A.

  • Modernica Side Bar Stool - Dowel Swivel Base
    shophorne.com
The Case Study Fiberglass Dowel Barstool with swivel base is an essential for the modern home. Available in a myriad of colors, choose your wire-frame in either zinc-plated steel or black powder-coated steel, and finish your design by choosing either solid maple dowels or solid walnut dowels. Easily one of the most important and recognizable designs of the twentieth century. The Fiberglass Shell Chairs were originally designed in 1948, as an entry in The Museum of Modern Art’s International Design Competition. At the time, no one could possibly have anticipated the massive success and longevity of this iconoclastic design. In the early fifties, fiberglass was considered an ultra-high tech material. Produced with a mixture of resin and glass fibers, it was lightweight, yet heavy-duty. Initial development and production was through Zenith Plastics—early pioneers of developing fiberglass for household and military applications. As for the chair bases, they were cleverly designed to provide a number of leg options that would be interchangeable within and between the arm shell and the side shell. The shell chairs were first available in the spring of 1950. The first runs of the chairs were produced in only three colors; griege, elephant-hide gray, and parchment—all of which had interesting translucent qualities. The chairs were distributed until 1983. In 2000, Modernica revived this potentially lost art of high-pressure, molded fiberglass. Modernica creates each shell, by hand, one-by-one, in our Los Angeles factory—just as they had been designed, developed, and produced in Southern California in the 1950s. Modernica uses all of the original presses and specialized equipment obtained from Century Plastics. To ensure authenticity of production, the initial shell chair production was overseen by Sol Fingerhut and Irv Green, the same team employed over sixty years ago to develop the original technology. Modernica creates each chair with the charge of adhering to the original tactile qualities, texture, and characteristics that alone are unique to the fiberglass shell chair. Our historic equipment has created thousands of chairs for three generations of chair lovers — and everyday Modernica continues to produce beautiful chairs for upcoming generations. Choose from a wide range of shell colors and chair base options. Modernica offers the flexibility to build a chair to suit your individual style and needs. Please note that due to the nature of fiberglass, some "hairs" may vary in darkness and color due to the singeing/burning process used to create the seat. These fibers add to the uniqueness of each chair. Handcrafted in Los Angeles, U.S.A.
