Since fall 2006, Christophe Decarnin is in charge of design at Balmain where he introduced modernity and yet respected the spirit of couture of the Maison which always envisioned an elegant “Jolie Madame”. The young designer established a very feminine evening wardrobe, modern, free, independent and even sexy. To celebrate Balmain’s latest energy, a new fragrance is born: AMBRE GRIS extending a great history of perfumes: Monsieur Balmain, Vent Vert, Ivoire... AMBRE GRIS is a tribute to the ingredients used to create the fragrance. Also called “floating gold”, Ambre Gris is close to a myth, a rare ingredient, precious with its grand smell. This amber feel is spiced up with Baies Roses, Cinnamon and surrounded by floral notes: tuberose, everlasting flower, myrrh, benzoin and musk. A geometric bottle underlines Balmain’s constant search for structure in things. A block of glass, a geometric cube strongly architectured lays a full elegance. The round cap made of sparkling metal is opposed to the solid bottle, giving the ensemble a graphic and a bit rock’n’roll twist. The case has been made with great “couture” care in white and in a woven texture comparable to the most exquisite fabrics. Completed by a simple and sober cartouche true to Balmain. Through AMBRE GRIS, a new page of the Maison’s history is now written.
