BCBG Max Azria Spring 2013 was a case study in the integration of clean, linear silhouettes and mixed textile construction. Azria sent out a series of column dresses crisscrossed with leather harness-style accents, but also kept the transparency and delicately articulated prints we’ve seen on spring runways past. The results were refreshing and lovely, but not without an edge of their own.
We were also struck by Azria’s palette choices—black, navy, blanche, cream mauve and salmon were all in play, rendering the show a series of highly constructed neutral pieces punctuated by bright flares of unexpected color. Spring 2013 already seems to be making a significant shift from last season’s sun-faded pastels, and BCBG is leading the Fashion Week charge.
