So, in case the title of this set wasn't obvious enough, today was THE best day of my life.
First, a Mercedes-Benz (snazzy, right?) picked me up at my house, drove me into the city, and dropped me off in front of the Conde Nast building. Then I waited in the lobby for Grace (from Polyvore), who brought me up to the magical land on the 12th floor--the Vogue offices. There, we were greeted by Christine, who is on the FNO team at Vogue. We waited in the Vogue lobby for a couple of minutes and observed the breathtaking photos from various Vogue photo shoots that hung on the walls. Then we were introduced to Meredith Melling Burke--aka MMB--Vogue's senior market editor. MMB gave us a tour around the floor and introduced us to various people on the Vogue team along the way. We got to step inside the office of Valerie Boster, the Bookings Editor, and her walls were filled with glossy photos of models--the top models on the left side of the office and the up-and-coming ones on the right--while her desks contained little stacks of polaroids of models--Karlie Kloss' photo was on top and I had to resist the urge to snatch it away and store it in my pocket ;). We also brisked through the art corner, which is "highly confidential"--this is where they have the room containing the boards on which they arrange the pages of the upcoming issue, as seen in "The September Issue." Then we stopped by the beauty section of the floor which "always smells good"--according to MMB--and entered the beauty closet which is stocked, from floor to ceiling, with every beauty product known to man kind. And as we walked to the fashion closet, we passed by the racks of clothes in the hallways which are arranged by editorial. Finally, we arrived at the esteemed fashion closet, which is filled with bags, scarves, hats, boots, flats, and heels galore (note: MMB said that Vogue is very "heels-oriented").
But while all that was amazing, the best part was walking by Anna's office...twice! The doors were wide open, and you could see her sitting at her long desk, immersed in her work. Wow, I can now proudly say I was within 20ft of THE Anna Wintour! =)
So to conclude this rather long story, I would like to say thank you to @polyvore and to Vogue for this amazing opportunity, which allowed me to gain a lot of insight into the world of fashion. And I would especially like to thank Grace from Polyvore and Christine from Vogue!
Wow, this was the most amazing experience ever and truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! xx
