  • Gubi Pedrera Ana Pendant Black
    shophorne.com
Many architects and furniture designers of the Bauhaus era were intent on providing well-designed homes and impeccably manufactured furnishings for the "common man". in 1955, Barba Corsini, a leading functionalist architect, realised his contemporary vision through his renovation of the loft space and the furnishings he custom designed for "La Pedrera". Antoni Gaudi, who originally designed "La Pedrera", is generally consideredthegreat master of Spanish Modernism but his unique body of work cannot be defined by any single style or simple classification. Corsini was a great admirer of Finnish architecture, which he believed to be the finest in Europe on account of the powerful simplicity of the designs. 'Powerful simplicity' is indeed an apt description of Corsini's personal design style, as represented by the Pedrera series. The Pedrera lamps are both modern and classic. Some of the lamps were designed by Barba Corsini, others in association with his protegé, Joaquim Ruiz Millet. One lamp, the ANA pendant, was designed by Ruiz Millet as a tribute to Corsini.

  • Moooi Heracleum Suspension Light
    hivemodern.com
Design Bertjan Pot, 2010. Metal frame, Polycarbonate lenses, ultra thin suspension wire. Made in The Netherlands by Moooi. "Heracleum arrived at Moooi as a fantasy. I had the wish to light many LED-lights at the same time. I experimented with bundles of electricity wires that I shaped into a branch structure. During the development of the design it just seemed that too much soldering was required. Then Marcel Wanders had the 'luminous' idea to use his ELECTROSANDWICH® to make the design possible. The structure was coated with a plastic layer for isolation and on top of that a conductive layer to supply the LEDs with power. Using this technique it was possible to create a structure more slender than I had hoped for when I started the project. The technique and design are perfect for each other." - Bertjan Pot. Bertjan Pot is a designer of mostly furniture and lighting. His methods are concentrated in his interest in skins of the structural and non-structural kind. He studied at the Design Academy Eindhoven. He considers theory as something to think about and something to discuss when not designing. ?"When it comes to designing one should just design without being blocked by too many theories." The decorative Heracleum LED lamp was inspired by the Heracleum plant. The white leaves/lenses ramify from one branch creating a very technical, natural structure. By using the technique of coating conductive layers, the lamp is very thin and delicate. A design not possible with normal wires. Heracleum II includes a new LED that allows endless technical possibilities, making this new version much more efficient while providing unique and sparkling illumination. Offered in copper or nickel. Dimmable. small: 28.3" dia. | 20.9" h | drop: 11.8" - 157" h | includes 45x14W 110V LEDs | UL listed. large: 38.6" dia. | 25.6" h | drop: 11.8" - 157" h | includes 63x10W 110V LEDs | UL listed.
