- The school is hosting a memorial service for Beatrice Newkirk, the girl who disappeared, whose case was officially delcared cold yesterday. There will be a few speeches from her friends and teachers in the auditorium. It will be quick in brief, the headmaster says she would want us to move on quickly. Rumors and accusations are in the air. The question is are you on the receiving end of them?
"This can't be happening." I whispered to myself, as one of Beatrice's friends gave a speech. But everything was toned out, even the pattering rain. I was in my own bubble.
My hallucinations and dreams were starting to scare me. They were starting to get real, it's like they could predict the future.
Just before they announced the death, I had this dream that Beatrice was running through the woods, screaming, begging and yelling at someone to stop. I woke up in the middle of the night, trembling, and now here I was. I didn't know what was going on anymore. I thought I had everything under control.
I used to dream of imaginary things, things that could never happen. But now, since I've gotten to Thorton, it's all real. I keep seeing floating ghosts, and hearing real voices, and I feel like somethings whispering in my ear or that something's following me.
My thoughts were interrupted by one of my peers, Anya. She asked me if I knew what was going on, but I just slowly shook my head.
The funeral ended shortly, with one of the teachers forcing us back to our dorms, and one of them kept bitchingg at Anya.
In my zoned out state, I bumped into someone.
"Excuse me!" said a voice rudely.
"Oh, it's just you, Loren. Pardon me, I don't like being touched."
It was Nadyia. I was weary of her, and decided just to apologize and move on.
"Terribly sorry!" I apologized, as I tried to walk away.
"Why, Loren, is something the matter?" Her faced looked concerned, but I could still see the bitchh in her eyes.
"Ah, just a little sad from the funeral."
"In times of grief, we must turn to our friends." she said smiling. I awkwardly smiled back.
"If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here." she said.
"Thank you! If you'll excuse me..." I said nervously.
I already had enough problems with evil and supernatural things, I didn't need another one of those things in my life.
