    hivemodern.com
Design Patricia Urquiola, 2006. Tubular steel base, aluminum, glass or MDF top. Made in Italy by Moroso. Sophisticated yet comforting, understated luxury with a vaguely Oriental feel. Simple and minimal the chrome-steel, varnished or powder-coated tube legs are reminiscent of the colored wooden sticks used for playing Mikado (or pick-up-sticks, known as Shanghai in Italian). The splashes of color provided by the lacquered tables in violet, emerald green and lacquer red contrast perfectly with the clean lines & neutral shades achieved by the seating units. Born in Oviedo, Patricia Urquiola attended the Madrid Polytechnic and the Milan Polytechnic Universities where she graduated in 1989 with Achille Castiglioni as her supervisor of whom she was assistant at the Milan Polytechnic from 1990 to 1992. She has worked with many great talents and a plethora of companies worldwide. This brilliant Spanish architect is a phenomenon not to be lost sight of. • Moroso Principessa Daybed
    hivemodern.com
Design Doshi & Levien, 2008. Solid lacquered beech, polyurethane foam, upholstery. Made in Italy by Moroso. Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien have this to say about their new design: "We designed a new daybed, called Princess, with layers of mattresses. The top mattress is covered with a composition of different objects and since they draw inspiration from a modern princess they're embroidered in gold and silver". The Princess version, so called for the Princess and the Pea fairytale, has 6 or 11 mattresses one of top of the other with various colored edges. Nipa Doshi was born in 1971 into a Gujarati family of Mumbai. She graduated from the Royal College of Art, London and soon returned to India to work with local craftspeople. After a short stay she went back to London where she met Jonathan Levien, a Scot who had recently finished his master's in furniture design at the Royal College. The synergy between Nipa and Jonathan clicked immediately; in fact they set up Doshi Levien in 2000 and got married. The combination of the two cultures and creativities generated a very special, innovative design concept. Nipa's is heavily influenced by the visual culture and materials of India, Jonathan's is rooted in industrial design. Together, their work celebrates cultural hybridism and explores a combination of technology, narration and industrial & craft design. Pricipessa features a black lacquered (RAL 9005) solid beech base & feet. It is offered with either 6 or 11 stacked polyurethane foam mattresses with fabrics and colors of which the first is covered in a special silk Jacquard designed for Principessa. 6 mattress stack: 80" w | 39.25" d | floor to bottom of base: 10.25" h | floor to top of cushions: 21.75" h. 11 mattress stack: 80" w | 39.25" d | floor to bottom of base: 10.25" h | floor to top of cushions: 29.5" h. • &Tradition Verner Panton Vp1 Flowerpot Suspension Lamp
    hivemodern.com
Design Verner Panton, 1968. Steel with lacquered finish, fabric cord. Made in Denmark by &Tradition. In 1968 the students' revolts in Paris, Rome and the United States were overthrowing stiff, old values, and initiating the Flower-Power generation of peace, love and harmony. Same year, Stanley Kubrick pictured the future of the year 2001, featuring the Verner Panton Chair, and man was soon to set foot on the moon. In the world of design, a colorful, playful pendant hung in restaurants and exhibitions, and very soon, in everybody's homes. The Flowerpot with its two semi-circular spheres facing each other has long proved its lasting design quality and is just as much a synonym of our time, too. Verner Panton graduated as an architect from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen in 1951, and later founded his own studio and went in the opposite direction of most Danish designers. Pop aesthetics in furniture and interiors were born. Verner Panton successfully interpreted the 'a-changin' times of the hippie movement and moon landing into visionary colorful interior, lighting and furniture. To him, color was always more important than form and creating his own theory of light based on Goethe and the Bauhaus painters, he believed, that color could evoke feelings. Also, In his young days, Panton often set off from Copenhagen in an odd looking converted Volkswagen for a trek across Europe, dropping in on fellow designers to share ideas - and good meals. The VP1 Flowerpot suspension lamp is available in many bold colors with matching textile cord. VP1 is also offered in various metal finishes accompanied by black fabric cord. 8.5" dia. | 6" h | ceiling rosette: 4.5" dia. | cord: 9' L | requires 1x40W E26 or 7W CFL bulb.

Alcove Plume offers an inviting place to put up your feet and relax in its soft upholstery, which comes in a wide range of colors. The two brothers, Ronan and Erwan, have been working together since 1999. Their collaboration is a constant dialogue, nourished by their single identities and strived towards a common goal. Today, the Bouroullec brothers work with numerous manufacturers such as Vitra, Cappellini, Issey Miyake, Magis, Ligne Roset, Habitat and the Kréo Gallery. • Bensen Munro Shelf Table
    hivemodern.com
Design Niels Bendtsen. Wood veneer, solid steel. Made in British Columbia by Bensen. The Hollywood series of tables are all about the legs. Because of a unique connector system, legs are detachable and interchangeable, easily converting a low coffee table to an entertainment console or side table. The changing role of a Hollywood table allows a piece to evolve with an owner's changing needs. Munro tables combine a wood top with simple and precise metal legs. The finish is made up of select solid wood and veneers that are carefully matched, sliced and stitched together for harmonious pattern and consistent coloration. The clear lacquer coat protects veneer from daily use while bringing out the natural colors and patterns of select species. The Munro legs are made of solid steel with a hand brushed chrome finish. Legs are interchangeable allowing for multiple heights and the option to add a shelf. The legs are connected to the tabletop through a unique pin mechanism that allows for rapid one-step attachment of legs. The connector mechanism is embedded into the top and eliminates all visible hardware even on the bottom of the table, maintaining sleek proportions and an attention to detail, from any angle. The removable legs allow for flat packing, making shipping and transport simple. Tabletops are available in wenge, grey oak, or white oak.
