  • Preowned 1960s Gold Silk Satin Bob Bugnand Fitted Dress & Jacket
    More info
Preowned 1960s Gold Silk Satin Bob Bugnand Fitted Dress & Jacket
Bob Bugnand Had A Fabulous Start - He Worked For Both Jacques Heim And Robert Piquet As Their Head Designers Before Opening His Own Couture House In Paris In The Mid-Fifties. His Pieces Were All Custom & Made To Order And When He Opened A Showroom In New York In 1957 His Business Boomed. In 1962 He Collaborated With Sam Friedlander And Designed Dresses For Women That Were More Rtw But Still With His Refined Aesthetic. Which Brings Us To This Particular Dress Set That Would Have Come From That Collaboration. This Set Is So Chic And I Love That Mix Of The Fitted Full Length Bombshell Dress With The Dramatic Topper In A Contrasting Fabric. The Overlay That Is Not Quite A Top And Not Quite A Jacket - Is Made Of A Nubby Wool In A Matching Hue To The Gold Silk Satin Of The Dress. It Has Beautifully Rounded Shoulders And Sleeves Cut The Elbow. Running Across The Body Of It And Over Each Sleeve Is An Inset Panel Of Matching Silk Satin That Is Edged In Elaborate Rows Of Gold Cord And Set Stones. This Is Worn Over The Dress That Is Cut In Beautifully Fitted Silhouette. The Dress Is Cut In That Classic 1960S Society Kind Of Way And Constructed Entirely Of A Rich Golden Silk Satin Of Very Good Quality. The Bodice Is Fitted With A Curving Neckline And Scooped Low In The Back. This Nips In At The Waist Where A Lovely Little Bow Sits As A Detail. The Skirt Falls To The Floor In A Fitted Column With Pleats Set At The Front And A Vent At The Back. Really Lovely On Its Own And Then You Have The Option Of The More Formal Feel When You Add The Topper. Excellent Condition. The Jacket Is Lined In A Heavy Silk Satin And Closes At The Back With A Painted Metal Zipper. The Dress Is Interlined In A Matching Hued Muslin And Closes At The Low Back With A Painted Metal Zipper. Preowned 1960s Bob Bugnand Silk, Brocade & Crystal Hostess Dress
Bob Bugnand Pieces Are A Rare Find And This Particular Gown Is Not Only A Beautiful Example Of His Work But Also Is A Bit Of A Time Capsule Piece As It Still Has Its Original Tags On It. Back In The 1960S It Would Have Cost $285 - Which Works Out To Approximately $2300 In Modern Dollars. It Makes Me Think That Is The Type Of Piece That A Girl Like Audrey Hepburn Would Have Worn To Host A Party At Her Home In - With Her Hair Piled High And Ballet Slipper Son Her Feet For Comfort. The Skirt Flows To The Floor And Is Made Of A Silk Brocade With A Hint Of Gold Thread Running Through The Design. Above That, The Waistline Has 2 Curving, Thick Bands Of Sparkling Prong Set Crystals In A Bevy Of Pastel Tones That Adds Sparkle. It's Like Wearing Jewels. This Is Balance By A Soft Pouffed Top With A High Neck And Two Layers Of Silk - One Peach And One A Pretty Soft Blue Grey. The Sleeves Are Cut Very Full Above Their Cuffs And The Entire Dress Is Just Pretty And Romantic In Feel. Excellent, With Original Tags Condition, With One Small Area Of Missing Rhinestones At The Back As Photoed.Fully Lined Through The Bodice In A Peach Silk And Interlined Through The Skirt With A Linen Look Mix Fabric In Pale Pink. The Sleeves Are Left Unlined, It Closes At The Back With A Painted Metal Zipper And Each Cuff Has Hidden Snaps To Close. A Small Area Of Missing Rhinestones At The Back And It Is Priced Accordingly. The Color Is A Little More Peach Pink Then Photoed.Sleeves: 27"Shoulders: 15"Bust: 18" Flat Across From Side Seam To Side SeamWaist: 14" Flat Across From Side Seam To Side SeamHips: 22" Flat Across From Side Seam To Side SeamBodice: 14.5" From Neck To WaistSkirt: 43" From Waist To HemModern Sizing Equivalent: Med-LrgThis Garment Has Been Professionally Cleaned, Pressed And Is Odor Free.
