THE IDEA OF PRESERVATION: WELL . . . SORT OF
In 2003 I purchased a worm-eaten book in Zhaoquing City, Guangdong, China. Back in Hong Kong, I transformed the book’s fragile pages into a three volume accordion book titled BookWorm. In the third volume I began to question my motives for working with the old text. Was I preserving Chinese culture; was I obliterating it; was I making it into something else?
