Coldplay are a rock band from the UK, lead by vocalist Chris Martin, lead guitarist Johnny Buckland, Guy Berryman as bass and Will Champion as the drummer. Band name was originally called ‘Starfish’ before they renamed themselves as ‘Coldplay’ in 1998. Following a release of three EP albums, which were Safety, Brothers & Sisters as a single and The Blue Room. They signed to major record label Parlophone.
After the released of their single ‘Yellow’ in 2000, they were nominated for a Mercury Prize. Their second album ‘A Rush Blood to the Head’ in 2002 was released to favourable reviews and won a multiple of awards such as the NME’s Album of the Year, and is considered to be one of their best albums. Whereas, next album ‘X & Y’ was named best-selling album worldwide in 2005. Their fourth album ‘Viva la Vida or Death and all his friends’ in 2008 was released earning largely favourable reviews and several Grammy nominations and wins.
They won quite a number of awards in recent years, such as 6 Brit Awards, 4 MTV Video Music Awards, and 7 Grammy Awards from 20 nominations (wow!). Coldplay are one of the best-selling bands in the world, as a result had sold more than 50m records.
They are also a supporter of a number of social and political causes such as Oxfam’s Make Trade Fair campaign ad the Amnesty International. As well they have performed in projects, per se Band Aid, Live 8, Sound Relief, Hope for Haiti Now and Teenage Cancer Trust etc.
They announced in August their fifth album is titled ‘Mylo Xyloto’ which will be released on 24th October 2011.
Ah, my latest British Musicians set :’) I’m not a huge fan of Coldplay but I do like their music like Yellow and the Scientist :)
LOL...the polyvore page seems to be very dysfunctional at the moment...the very large gap between your set and the tags, I’m sure it’s not meant to be that far away. With the profiles, it seems the sets look like it’s placed further towards the left.
Polyvore is a dysfunctional site. Haha, kinda funny really. There's just always something wrong with it, even if its just a little thing. I wonder if anyone else has noticed...
