British Musicians
19: London Grammar

London Grammar are a British trip-hop band formed by Hannah Reid, Dan Rothman and Dominic ‘Dot’ Major.

Their music style has been described as a blend of “ambient, ethereal and classical sounds” with melancholy guitar, soaring vocals and plaintive lyrics. Hannah Reid has been compared to Judie Tzuke and Florence Welch for her powerful and brooding vocals. Hannah describes the songs are emotionally affected and “writes about people who come in and out of my life.” Their album If You Want reached no.2 in the UK, Scottish and Australia charts.

I found out about London Grammar from XFM. It’s where I find most inspirational music, such as Ed Sheeran, Birdy, Alt-J, Arcade Fire etc. I was really struck on how melancholy and beautifully haunting their music and sound is. I am glad they have the recognition that they deserve and are nominated for a Brit Award 2014 for British Breakthrough Act.

I think Hannah looks like a model! I was so surprised this is what they look like. Its one thing listening to the radio, and another thing seeing what they actually look like! (Just saying.) When I first listened to Paramore, I thought they were a girl band.
