**Well I know I promised a marathon. And once again, I'm going to try to finish one tonight. possibly 5 chapters. more if i can handle it. but let's just start with that. :)
oh and the reason for this, is that i finally finished my stupid summer project! it was horrible to have to do something over the summer but i can't tell you how awesome it feels to finish. :) yyeah so i'll stop rambling now. i hope you like it!! and thank you to all of my readers. you guys are amazing!!!

"What the helll does that mean?" Christina asked me as I turned off my car and opened my door.

"I have no idea!" I told her. "I mean, he just left and said 'let the games begin'."

She snorted. "Well that's weird," she told me. "But it's so beyond obvious that he likes you!"

I rolled my eyes. "Even if he does, he's just going to have to move on," I answered. "I'm--"

"Not going through that again," she interrupted. "Yeah, yeah, I know. But you /kissed/ him Lei. There's seriously something there."

I sighed. "I told you! I kissed him to prove my point," I explained yet again.

"Uh huh," she said skeptically. "So was he a good kisser."

I blushed and looked away. "Doesn't matter," I said as I saw Josh and Tom walking up to us. "Okay let's drop it."

"What? Why?" she asked right as the boys walked up to us. "Ohhh...that's why."

"What's why?" Josh asked.

I laughed a little. "That's like a double question," I said.

He just winked at me as the bell rang. "Still I'm curious," he said as he slung his arm over my shoulders.

"It's nothing," Christina said and gave me a look. Apparently this was Josh making a move.

Tom cleared his throat. "Uh, don't wanna barge in but Marisol at ten o'clock," he said.

"Shiit," Josh muttered.

I laughed and shrugged his arm off. "Good luck lover boy," I said and started walking off.

"Wait!" he called and grabbed my hand pulling me back. "You have to help me. Please. Just...pretend to be dating me? Maybe she'll back off."

I sighed. "No she won't. She'll just start to hate me and become even more of an annoyance to get you," I explained. "So really it's easier to just avoid her."

Christina elbowed me in the ribs. I glared at her. "Do it!" she mouthed.

I rolled my eyes and put Josh's arm back around me. "You owe me," I grumbled. "Big time."

He just kissed my cheek. "Thanks baby," he said.

I was about to yell at him for calling me baby when Marisol walked up with a flirty smile and far too low scoop neck shirt. When she saw Josh's arm around my waist and my head on his shoulder her eyes narrowed.

"Hey Joshy," she said with a smile. "Leilani."

At my name, she sneered and I finally understood that 'if looks could kill' saying.

"Hey Marisol," Josh said. "How are you?"

She smiled again and leaned towards him so her cleavage was practically in our faces. Skank. "Oh I'm good," she said with a smile. "I was actually going to ask you something."

"Shoot," he said and she obviously took it as a question as opposed to him being upset she had a question.

She batted her over mascara'd eyelashes. "Well," she said. "I was wondering if you wanted to come over to my house later. My parents won't be home."

I held back my gag and looked away. Christina and Tom were a few yards away watching like hawks. I laughed a little when Christina pretended to be busy with something else other than spying.

"Aw, sorry Marisol," Josh responded and I turned back to that conversation. "I can't. I'm taking Lei here to the beach."

She raised her eyebrows. "Uh, why?" she asked.

He smiled smuggly and pulled me closer. "We've got a date."

My mouth and Marisol's both popped open. "What?!" we demanded at the same time.

He frowned. "See I wanted it to be a surprise," he said to me. "But you don't mind right?"

I cursed myself for agreeing to this. Now I'd have to agree with Josh if I wanted to keep this charade up. "Um, of course not," I forced myself to say with a smile.

He kissed me quickly and then we turned back to Marisol. When Josh looked over, she stopped glaring at me and plastered a fake smile on her lips. "That's great. Well we'll just hang out later," she told him and winked suggestively.

After a few seconds of awkward silence when Josh didn't respond, she strutted away.

I moved out of Josh's grip again as Christina and Tom rushed up to us. "What happened?!" she demanded as she caught her breath again.

Josh explained seeing as I was still in shock. "Ohmygosh!" Chrissy squealed. "I'll help you get ready for your date," she told me.

I raised my eyebrows. "No you won't. Because there is no date. It was just pretend," I told her as we walked inside.

"But we can't not go," Josh argued. "What if Marisol came to check on us? We need to go to keep up pretenses."

I sighed. "Very funny."

"I'm not kidding," he said as the bell rang. He leaned in and kissed me. "I'll pick you up at three."

With that he strode off with Tom leaving me in a state of shock with Christina.

"Still think he's not interested?" she asked me.

I started off to class. "Please shut up."

She laughed but just followed me as we walked off to our next class.
