A polio survivor, Kahlo was gravely injured in a bus accident at age 18, and began painting in bed during her year-long convalescence. Kahlo suffered through 30 subsequent operations and a partial amputation of her right leg. She expressed much of her anguish through penetrating self-portraits that were intentionally Naïve, and filled with the bright colors and flattened forms of the Mexican folk art she adored. • NOVICA Indian Yantra Painting
    novica.com
Dr. Sneh Gangal selects a palette of intrepid colors for this yantra painting to worship Durga known as the goddess beyond reach. She is one of the manifestations of goddess Parvati wife of Shiva. It's not meant for all forms of worship of Durga. I painted this yantra specifically for her Om Hrim Dum Durgayai Namah mantra to be intoned when seeking the fulfillment of all desires worldly as well as heavenly. Dr. Gangal paints the yantra with natural stone colors on ivory paper. The painting is mounted on lined card paper. Dr. Gangal is inspired by the yantras in Mantra Mahodathi by Dr. Sudhakar Malvaya. A yantra according to Indian metaphysics is a geometric representation of energy. According to Hindu Tantras a mantra is regarded as the ray of consciousness that a yantra represents figuratively. Indian truth-seekers believe that everything in this world represents the abstract energies of a deity hence every visual phenomenon is a form of yantra. Each yantra has a distinctive pattern that cannot be changed but which Dr. Gangal embellishes in her own creative way.
