  • The Bear rubber stamp brooch
    boticca.com
This piece was inspired from a whole collection of antique rubber stamps that I found in a flea market. I loved how the rubbers got stained during such a long time. I set the stamps in silver and chose an appropriate decorative frame to create a narrative scene. Here the metal frame is decorated with pastes and was found in a flea market. The brooch system is in silver. Size: W5 H5 L1 cm All jewellery arrive boxed and ready for gifting! I mainly like to work with recycled materials which inspire me. My process of creation comes from chaos and coincidences. The caracteristic of these found objects lead me into some kind of intuitive game, where I come to discover links and combinations. Through transformation I give them a new meaning, catching up with the magical world of the imperceptible, beauty and ugliness. In this world, all the preestablished rules of our super conditioned society disappear, and others show up, those of chaos and freedom.

  • The last flight brooch
    boticca.com
In an embroidery shop in India I found plenty of these antique Air force army emblems. I decided to transform them into the shape of a skull with wings by adding eyes made of two garnets in the middle of the parachute. The emblem's setting and the brooch system are in silver. Size: W5,5 H2 x L1 cm During my stay in India in 2008, I worked with indian embroiders. In India, handmade embroidery is currently used to realise badges and emblems. First, I recycled old embroideries that I found in the workshop. Then I designed new patterns. My desire is to use this ancient handmade work, which has almost disappeared in the West and was replaced by factories, in order to give it a new value and update it.Most of the time, I chose images which denounce the madness of our modern society, but was also inspired by symbols of India.

This piece was inspired by the antique armour found in an archaeological grave discovery and a plastic warrior head taken from an actual toy. In this piece I like the contrast between the modernity of the automated toy and the ancient imagery of the antique armour The eyes light in red when you press on the top of the head. The head is removable in order to change the batteries. Each bone of the skeletons are hand-made in silver and are jointed with rings so they can move. This piece is made with a brooch pin, closed with a pin protector in silver.Size: W2,5 H4,5 L1 cm After several trips to India, I was really impressed by the omnipresence of death in this culture. This society accepts death like a natural process; it is perceived as part of humanitys destiny, as a lifes cycle. Destruction, degradation is present everywhere and in every mind in daily life. During my contemplation of cremations, I realised that we are but small things on earth: only bones and ashes.
