Polyvore has an ever-expanding database of several million products or as we call them items.
Products find their way into Polyvore in two ways, by members using the clipper,
which allows them to pull any product into Polyvore as they discover them on the web,
and by processing product feeds directly into the index.
The editor is the core of the Polyvore experience that allows users to mix and match images
from anywhere on the web, to create outfits, interior designs, or any kind of collage. Users
can build outfits by dragging and dropping items from the Polyvore database onto the canvas. Items can be searched
by category, store, color or tag. Sets created in the Polyvore editor range from well-coordinated
outfits to stunning works of art.
A set is created once a user publishes it to the Polyvore community. Each set has a dedicated
page on Polyvore, featuring a list of each item contained within the set, with a link to the
location of the item, such as the store where the item can be purchased. In addition each
set page includes the creator's name, comments, number of times viewed, related
Polyvore Groups among many other things.
Each item also has its own page on Polyvore. The item page shows a large image of the item, a credit to the user who added the item to Polyvore, a list of all the sets that contain that item, as well as a link to the site it can be purchased. See an item page »
Each registered user has a profile page that displays their sets as well as their favorite sets, and their collection of items and contacts. Polyvore has built a vibrant online community where users can make friends, leave messages and connect with members all around the world.
Groups are a powerful way for other users to discover and browse sets by
particular themes, as well as connect with other members who share their sense
of style.
