Wedding Guest
March 25, 2010 - 16 views

First off, never worry about overshadowing the bride. She IS the bride, and if she lets a guest steal the spotlight, well, that's on her, not you. Never compromise your style to accommodate someone else. For a wedding, the little black dress is a no-brainer. Pair it will strappy silver sling-backs, a textured clutch, accessorize with a few bangles and a pair of silver earrings and you'll definitely turn a few heads, without stealing the show.

Office to Evening
March 25, 2010 - 37 views

A woman doesn't get to a position of power without taking some risks and asserting her strength. There is no reason for a high powered exec to don a navy suit just to impress the VP. Furthermore, who's to say the VP isn't a woman? A fitted dress, vintage top doubling as a cami, under a double-breasted blazer is professional and clean. Black heels are not necessary. A splash of color done tastefully is fine. For evening, ditch the blazer, top, and suddenly a professional ensemble becomes upscale evening wear. A few bangles will add sparkle, but let your wit, charm and intelligence be your best accessory!

For a class reunion, it is important to look good but not "overdone". Wearing a cocktail dress seems desperate for attention. A muted gray sheath with sweater wrap (that can be removed if things get hot) and black/gold jewelry are simple, stylish and classy. The heels say you're not afraid to stand out and be seen, but you don't need a screaming pattern to prove it. Remember, your a grown-up now, and this isn't the prom.

Eat Your Heart Out

This look is soft and feminine. The ruffled mini and beaded vest are not so matched that it looks like you've tried too hard. It's sophisticated and flirty with a mix of textures and fabrics. The muted neutrals and lack of print show a sense of restraint, while still making statement. This ensemble tells your old classmates that you've just started to hit your stride!
