"Model Daul Kim was found dead in Paris this morning, her agents at Next confirm. "She was a top model and a great friend to all of us at Next. Please respect her family’s privacy at this time of sadness. We will all miss her very much," they said in a statement. The cause of death remains unknown at this time, but a source tells the Cut the 20-year-old committed suicide. She will be missed." (NYMAG)
 
I was absolutely SHOCKED when I read this. I had just discovered Daul through polyvore and in the last months have really fallen in love with her. From watching videos of her, I could see she was so intelligent. She always said what was on her mind; she just kept it real. I really respect people like that. Daul had this uber chicness and sophistication. You know the kind you expect from an asian fashionista. But, she also had this edgy side to her that I adored. One moment she was Chanel and the next she was Nirvana, and both styles seemed so natural and believable; no other model could flip it as effortlessly as Daul Kim. I read somewhere that as a child she was always striving to be beautiful. You know to fit that mold of what society accepted. That puts so much pressure on girls today and I think it's so sad. To think that this beautiful, smart, inspiring girl probably had self esteem problems ultimately leading to her demise is just a tragedy. I hope her soul is resting in peace and that she will be happier in the life after death. I will miss her.

As a child I would often find myself wandering away from my parents in department stores. I was too engulfed in my own fascination and curiosity. With every step I took, I carefully brushed my fingers against cashmere sweaters, silk ties, and velvet dresses. Today was no different; I had gone astray from the tour group. I ran my fingertips across bottles upon bottles of wines. From white to red, well aged to freshly bottled, slightly pulling out the ones that struck my fancy to quickly give the label a peer.
 
I had been so distracted in my own thoughts that I hadn’t realized I had wandered into a part of the cellar that was designated for employees only. Although this place was off limits, I found that I was not alone. There was a couple, their figures where shadowed by a combination of the cellar’s dark abyss and pinholes of light coming from the ceiling of the San Antonio Winery. I found myself gazing at them for maybe a moment to long, so I slowly began creeping my way away from their sight to give them some privacy.
 
However, something caught my attention and I could not ignore it; the aroma of a newly opened bottle of ‘98 Pétrus, a wine connoisseur’s fantasy. And that is when I saw it. The female shadow seemed to be tugging at the bottom of her skirt as if it were previously hiked up. And was that a stack of money that the guy just handed the woman? What was I witnessing? Could it have possibly been a high class call girl and her John? Or was it just a very rich good with very good taste in wine flaunting his money to an admirer? I hadn’t had it all figured out, but one thing I did know was that I had to know this mysterious man. And this scene that I had just observed could be my ticket out of slanging records and into an expensive fashion school.
