The Reader (2008)
A strong recommendation for ALL true drama lovers :-)))
A beautiful story based on the 1995 novel by Bernhard Schlink. It was the last film for producers Anthony Minghella and Sydney Pollack, both of whom died before it was released. (source: Wikipedia)

Cast:
Always great Ralph Fiennes as an adult Michael Berg
EXCELLENT performance of David Kross as young Michael Berg!!
And last, but not the least KateWinslet as Hanna Schmitz.
If anyone has or had any doubts about her performances and acting skills, I think will change his mind after seeing a movie.
I think it's enough said that she received praise and won:
- a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress
- BAFTA Award for Best Actress
- Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress and
- the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in this film.

Coco avant Chanel (2009)......for MyChanel
Dear, hope you gonna like it!! It's not "typical" set.. I didn't want to use many details, because whole concept of Chanel is something pure and above all classy!! Don't know have you seen the movie yet or not....but I'm sure you can't wait :o))

Little bit about the movie:
"Coco before Chanel".....The story of Coco Chanel's rise from obscure beginnings to the heights of the fashion world.

Leading role: Audrey Tautou (best known for her fantastic performance as Amelie)

Interesting fact: Gabrielle Chanel got her nickname 'Coco' when she was a cabaret singer at a music hall called 'La Rotonde' in 1905. The nickname came from the song 'Qui qu'a vu Coco dans le trocadero'

Alice in Wonderland..opening in March 2010.
I know many of you can't wait for this one to come out..Pia, Ann!!!! And there are so many reasons for all that anticipation!!

Director of the movie is, I wanted to say "one and only", but he's even more original than that: TIM BURTON. Either you like him or not, you have to appreciate and admire his unique work.

The cast is as great as their director!
Johnny Depp...what to say about him that's not already said?? I believe Ann could write a book about him! He transforms faster then Optimus Prime (Lol), we saw him as a killer, a lover, a pirate and now in this movie as The Mad Hatter! I don't have doubts that we will see one more excellent performance!!
I wanted to make this set with him, but there are sooo many great pictures from the movie, that you can make 10 sets based just on characters!! Little by little I decided to go with this one!!

Okay..Then, there's also great Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen
Michael Sheen as The White Rabbit
Alan Rickman (LOOOOOOOVE HIM) as The Caterpillar
Anne Hathaway as The White Queen
Then there's Christopher Lee, Noah Taylor, Marton Csokas, Crispin Glover.....and of course as ALICE, young Mia Wasikowska.

And one more little information: we will watch it in 3D!!!!!

Dorian Gray.... opening:next week (9.9.09.)

Dorian Gray.... opening:next week (9.9.09.)
Based on a novel written by Oscar Wilde - The picture of Dorian Gray.

It's a story of a young man who wants to stay beautiful and handsome forever.
One man paints his portrait and Dorian sells his soul to make sure the portrait would age instead of himself .
But of course, the portrait gradually reveals his inner ugliness to all.

Main cast: Ben Barnes (best known for his role of Prince Caspian) as Dorian Gray and Collin Firth.
Director: Oliver Parker

I read that Wilde once said that main characters are reflections of himself. "Basil Hallward is what I think I am: Lord Henry what the world thinks me: Dorian what I would like to be—in other ages, perhaps".

So let's wait and see... in what way mr. Oliver Parker saw ALL of them...

P.S.
There is also one expression called "Dorian Gray Syndrome" - it's a cultural and societal phenomenon characterized by an excessive preoccupation with the individual's own appearance accompanied by difficulties coping with the aging process. It's one very narcissistic character (source: Wikipedia)

So far.... the comedy of the year... The Hangover (2009)
I don't know about you, but I soo LOVED this movie!!!! And I didn't expect it to!! Laughed so hard!!!!
It's relaxing, funny, entertaining, ironic, of course, a bit predictable... but its all that one comedy should be!!
Ed Helms (guy with a missing tooth on the pic) definitely played his best role in this one!!!

Note::: Watch it with friends....a lot of friends! With a little snack and drink, maybe you end up like them....Orrrr maybe better not :o))

The Lovely Bones..... opening in December 2009.

The Lovely Bones..... opening in December 2009.
So, I was away for quite some time, and I missed Poly very much! My amazing friends that I have met here and of course making sets!

I've been going on and on with sets thinking how my movie sets was the thing I missed the most!
Since I adore them, I decided to do this little thing.... make more sets about new movies that I loved AND upcoming movies that I THINK I'm gonna like...
This here (The Lovely Bones) is one of those that I think that I'm gonna like very much... For so many reasons!

The movie is adaptation of a novel of the same name by Alice Seabold.
Director is amazing Peter Jackson. (The Lord of the Rings) and the main role in the movie is given to FANTASTIC young actress Saoirse Ronan (best known for her great role of Briony in Atonement).
The rest of the cast are also all big actors: Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz, Susan Sarandon and Stanley Tucci.
Genre of the movie is (by IMDB) drama/ thrailer/ fantasy/ crime... and that's absolutely in every way P. Jackson's ground.

I'm looking forward....
And for you here's the trailer, so you can take a peek! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikUWKi0W5_g

Realise date: December 11, 2009.
