I had this kind of set in mind ever since I joined Polyvore, but I wasn't able to find the right furniture. Now, with the use of new cropping tool, here it comes:)
 
I wanted this set to have 1960s feel, but it turned out to be quite eclectic. When I lived in Wrocław, I had a very similar kitchen (almost the same layout, but a lot smaller), I had lots of Polish folk art spread around the room too. On the wall some posters from late 1950s and 1960s films.

Ladies,
I decided to make this set and tell you a little bit about Polish Christmas traditions.
 
The main Christmas celebration is on Christmas Eve, when the first star shines on the sky, we sit by the table to eat the supper (once a year we call it "wieczerza" instead of "kolacja"). But before that, we share opłatek (Christmas wafer) with each other wishing all the best to others. Sometimes tears are inevitable:) Feel invited to sit with me by the table and try out Polish food. I have served pierogi (boiled dumplings with cottage cheese and potato stuffing), karpia w galarecie (carp in jelly) and bigos (stew made of cabbage and meat). These are the only dishes I had room for on this table and just a few out of countless traditional delights eaten during Christmas time.
 
In reality I am going to make just pierogi, fish and barszcz (betroot soup). Oh, lack of ingredients! And who would eat it anyway?
 
We listen to Christmas carols while eating (click on the link to listen) and after the supper we open our presents.

Dear Ladies,
 
I think I'm having sort of a Polyvore block at the moment, feel that my sets are so repetitive and there is nothing much to inspire me.
 
However, I have come back to wish you all the best for Christmas and the New Year. Hope you will be surrounded by the loved ones! Cherish these moments:)
 
This will be my third Christmas away from my parents. Living abroad is hard at times, especially now, but I have my best friend and my beloved Kuba with me, I have my family recipes and favorite Polish carols (these carols ARE Christmas), so I will survive:)
 
Click on the link and listen to one of my fave Christmas songs, "Driving Home for Christmas" by Chris Rea. It reminds me of the time when I was at university and had to travel 500km to see my family during Christmas time (and actually any time I could see them;)). In fact it summarizes the feeling I used to get and still get when I come back home...
