24. Your first football game ...

I was having a blast at the first football game of the season. I was with my Glee girls, except Santana and Brittany of course who were on the track cheering. I was chanting and yelling along with Quinn and Rachel and Tina, and even Kurt when I saw Mike get sacked by the other team. I cringed at the sight of it. When all of the other players got off the pile Mike didn’t move. My heart stopped and I froze. Santana looked at Rachel and Quinn who in turn looked at me. After snapping out of my daze I ran down the bleachers and almost fell down, missing a step. The Glee gang was right behind me. Santana stopped me on the track. “Hold on, chica,” she said gently holding me back.

I saw Coach talking to the medic. It was bad. She came over to me and said, “Look, here Chaya. Mike’s gonna have to the hospital. Why don’t you head on over there now.”

I nodded, my face streaming with tears. I just remember being in the car with Quinn and Rachel and Kurt with Santana, Tina, and Brittany following. When we arrived at the hospital Mr. and Mrs. Chang were already there. They told me that Mike was awake, but he had had a terrible concussion. I asked to see him and they let me. I went in with Quinn not far behind. He looked so pale and he was bruised, but awake.

“Hey Quinn,” mike said in a raspy voice.

“Hey,” I said moving toward his bedside, “How are you feeling?”

“I- I’m sorry,” Mike said with a confused look on his face, “Do I know you?”

I looked at Quinn who was speechless and then back at Mike. “You, you don’t know who I am,” I said with tears filling my eyes more than they already had. I couldn’t control it and I broke down. Quinn hugged me and I cried into her chest.

“Chaya,” Mike said, “I’m sorry I was just kidding.” He laughed a little and I turned around with the strong urge to hit him, until I realized he was lying in a hospital bed. I just laughed while crying and sat on his bed. Oh what a night.
