Come on into the basement...
It rained the first time she was taken to the basement.

This set is so emotionally evocative. Sad, poignant. Yet also so beautiful artistically. I mourn that little life too as representative of me and every other person who suffered at the hands of this kind of evil. Maybe somehow our art will help people "see".

This is a powerful and well-done collage, which stirs up such sadness for that little child...i'm so sorry you went through this experience and all the others of abuse. It's good that you could get out some of the emotion this way. Love, J

I think the baby is symbolic in this - I think the loss of innocence?? Not really sure, still trying to work out all the different images, smells and emotions associated with it all. This set allowed us to release quite a bit of the emotion that was threatening to overwhelm, some elements were deliberately left out so that we can try and be a bit more gentle on ourselves. We think that the basement is from when the father was a butcher. This would mean we were at least 3 (nearly 4) - the age of our youngest one. It is a creepy collage isn't it... it's another one that was done really quickly once started.
