In their capable hands craft meets art; function meets form; and material meets potential. The rare and unusual use of marble in this high quality, ultra modern chandelier lends it an exceptional sense of quality and durability. This is a bright chandelier and will illuminate a large area. Through globalization and the constant expansion of opportunity via the Internet, people are on the move and their interest and allegiance in all things is short-lived. The concept word for the Trash Me lamp design is transient. Like our current global culture, it is a product that is ephemeral. The lamp is made of paper pulp spread over a mold and left to dry. Paper is in itself a transient material. A strong concept idea leads to an extraordinary form, and in this case it is a rebirth of what the designer sees as the beauty of the utilitarian forms. It is only fitting that the name is Trash Me, meaning "please recycle me when no longer useful or desired".

Individual pendant with a design that has evolved from NORM Architects who were inspired on travels through fabulous cities of Barcelona, Paris and New York where they saw streetlights with characteristic cast iron tops which looked a bit like a hat with semi transparent glass at the base. Back in the studio Kasper and Jonas recreated the shape and materials combination to form an outstanding indoor pendant light. Made from glass and marble the two architects were keen to use stone to create a light, and this unusual use of the material gives the lamp a durability and exceptional sense of quality. The overall shape of the Mass light is strong and masculine, yet feminine curves soften the expression. Also available as 9 piece chandelier version.

&Tradition Verner Panton Vp1 Flowerpot Suspension Lamp
Design Verner Panton, 1968. Steel with lacquered finish, fabric cord. Made in Denmark by &Tradition. In 1968 the students' revolts in Paris, Rome and the United States were overthrowing stiff, old values, and initiating the Flower-Power generation of peace, love and harmony. Same year, Stanley Kubrick pictured the future of the year 2001, featuring the Verner Panton Chair, and man was soon to set foot on the moon. In the world of design, a colorful, playful pendant hung in restaurants and exhibitions, and very soon, in everybody's homes. The Flowerpot with its two semi-circular spheres facing each other has long proved its lasting design quality and is just as much a synonym of our time, too. Verner Panton graduated as an architect from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen in 1951, and later founded his own studio and went in the opposite direction of most Danish designers. Pop aesthetics in furniture and interiors were born. Verner Panton successfully interpreted the 'a-changin' times of the hippie movement and moon landing into visionary colorful interior, lighting and furniture. To him, color was always more important than form and creating his own theory of light based on Goethe and the Bauhaus painters, he believed, that color could evoke feelings. Also, In his young days, Panton often set off from Copenhagen in an odd looking converted Volkswagen for a trek across Europe, dropping in on fellow designers to share ideas - and good meals. The VP1 Flowerpot suspension lamp is available in many bold colors with matching textile cord. VP1 is also offered in various metal finishes accompanied by black fabric cord. 8.5" dia. | 6" h | ceiling rosette: 4.5" dia. | cord: 9' L | requires 1x40W E26 or 7W CFL bulb.

''Our ambition was to design a pendant with a simple industrial feel, but which was still elegant and poetic." The Copenhagen Pendant is an exercise in contrasts. Combining the classic and the modern, the maritime and the industrial, it is a new pendant lamp developed by Space Copenhagen for &tradition. Following the success of their first collaboration, the Fly Lounge Series, &tradition have worked with Space Copenhagen again to produce a luminaire in matte lacquered metal, one of Space Copenhagen's first lights to enter production. "Downwards it secures an even, solid light and upwards it diffuses the light, adding to the atmosphere of the ceiling," says Signe Bindslev Henriksen, co-founder of Space Copenhagen. The subtle uplight highlights the soft plated crown of the pendant, which is both a sleek, integral part of its overall structure and a nod to the typology of maritime pendant lights that inspired the design. The pendant's matte-lacquered metal lampshade disperses the light in a subtle but spectacular way, resembling the classic gaslight feel of the bleak Copenhagen piers. A design classic from Scandinavia. An object does only count as design icon when it passes the test of the time and if it does not loose any of its symbolic strength despite the time and numerous variants. &Tradition has revived a design icon with the FlowerPot lamp. In the year 1969 the already at living times legendary Danish architect and designer Verner Panton designed the prize honoured FlowerPot lamp. From the 25 lamp shapings that were created by Verner Panton, FlowerPot and Topan are deemed to be most simple lamps. Panton is known as pioneer at the integration from Top-Art elements in the living design world. The designer was influenced by the Flower-Power time for his FlowerPot lamp naming, giving a memorial to it. The aluminium-stainless steel construction is available in further colours.

Among the numerous lamps that were created by Verner Panton, Topan is the most simple, beside FlowerPot, and simultaneously the catchiest design. Topan advanced fast to one of the most sold lamps, designed in the year 1960. The spherical shade out of aluminium is opened downwards and should be hanged as near as possible to tables or the floor according to the designer’s suggestion, to exclude glaring from the illuminant in the centre of the sphere. The comeback of the Panton classics at &Tradition proves impressing the timeless character of the objects.

Design Verner Panton, 1960. Aluminum, fabric cord. Made in Denmark by &Tradition. Sometimes the simplest things are the most lasting and memorable, the Topan Pendant being a brilliant. example. It was the first mass produced lamp by Verner Panton, later to be followed by the FlowerPot. Topan's simplicity and coolness proves to be of lasting value. Topan was originally designed for the hotel and restaurant Astoria in Trondheim, Norway, in 1960. Here, Panton used his textile designs Geometry I to IV for floors, walls and ceilings in order to give the room a uniform image. The Topan pendants hung all over, dividing large rooms into smaller and more intimate spaces. Topan is available in many bold colors with matching textile cord, an aluminum globe, 9 feet of cord and aluminum ceiling rosette. Brushed version has a black cord. 8.3" dia. | 7.5" h | ceiling rosette: 4.5" dia. | requires 1x40W E27 or 7W low energy bulb.

"I suffocate in aestheticism”, said Arne Jacobsen once. As he worked in natural gardens he recuperated the necessary creativity for the artistic works that lived his highlight at the end of the fifties when he furnished the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen (1958 to 1960). The Hotel was called the ugliest building of the city by the citizens of that time – but the dark-green pedestal building with the enthroned tower is considered to be an important contribution to the international modern today. The same thing occurs with Arne Jacobsen’s designed interior furnishing of the Royal Hotel that includes design icons like the seating object "Swan” and "Egg” or also the Royal Lamp. The lamp after the design from Arne Jacobsen was revitalized by &Tradition and it is also available in glass or acrylic and in different colours today. Despite its timeless form, the lamp spreads a kind of nostalgia. If it could talk then it would talk about ancient times in the Hotel Bar for which it has been created, or from Liza Mineli’s eyes that were reflected in it or how Frank Sinatra’s cigarettes’ smoke surrounded its diffuse light. Today, the Royal Lamp carries just that atmosphere of past days into numerous living rooms all around the world. Whether in glass or acrylic in a transparent edition or in different colour variants, the Royal Lamp stands for simple, timeless, Scandinavian design.

The rotary is not only a famous children's toy, but attended the designer Benjamin Hubert also as inspiration for the pendant lamp Spinning Light BH2. BH2 spins the idea of the rotating tool fore than the pendant lamp BH1. While at the BH1 the rotation in the beginnings, Spinning Light BH2 reminds of a extremely rotating rotary, which kicks out to the sides. The heightens the optical dynamic of the lamp and caters also for a larger opening on the lower side. Consequently, the designer Benjamin Hubert implements the idea of rotation: The cable breaks in at the upper end of the pendant on the slimmer part in the lamp's body. The body opens up just like turning down and approves the light in the inside on its widest part. With its flat shape the pendant lamp Spinning Light BH2 appears in the collection of high quality tools in Nordic tradition, what the business &Tradition stands for. Through the globalization and the continuously growing possibilities by -among others- the internet, most of the people are in movement all the time and their interests and loyalty do not remain at the same space for long, or as well with their products. This time-spirit comes out of the Trash Me Table Lamp which has been designed by the American designer Victor Vetterlein for & Tradition in the year 2010. The concept behind the Trash Me lamp is the transience. Victor Vetterlein included in his design of his lamp that most of the products would be less interesting for their owners after a short while and accordingly they aren't long lasting. The design of Trash Me with it is the humorous confrontation with this durability and short life of things. The Trash Me lamp consists of paper making which is sprayed on the surface of the form, drying there. Both halves of the lamp's body are fixed to each other and include the necessary electronics as well as the illuminant. Trash Me can be departed easily and divided in single parts. If the lamp stops interesting its owner, one can use its parts otherwise or recycle them so that they can become something new.

They are both graduates from the royal Danish academy of fine arts in Copenhagen, and the dynamic design duo, being true modernists, believe in design where focus is on meeting a real need instead of creating one. This reflects in their work as architects and industrial Designers. Function, production and form are equally important components, and though being true Nordic values, this also applies for the traditional japanese design, the arts & Crafts and the shaker movement - all traditions NOrm are influenced By. Though bearing a strong admiration for some of the purest minimalists such as mies van der rohe, Donald judd, john Pawson, alberto Campo baeza and Noato Fukasawa, NOrm are not easy to Categorize.
