    The Bellevue Floor Lamp was designed in 1929 by Arne Jacobsen. It was inspired by the Bauhaus movement and the technological developments that had made the manufacturing of tubular steel possible. Craftsman made in Denmark by &tradition it is timeless and recognisably iconic. The striking 45 degree cut shade directs the light while avoiding excessive glare. Jacobsen was so enamoured of the design it reappeared again and again throughout his career – most notably in his famous Bellevue petrol station. The simple swan neck and clean, sturdy construction reflects the Modernist ambitions of Le Corbusier and his contemporaries. But as with all truly great design, this superb and desirable floor lamp seems, if anything, to have improved with age. It comprises a lacquered aluminium shade with a strong steel frame and a generous 3 metres of fabric cord. We stock a matching Bellevue Table Lamp and matching Bellevue Wall Lamp.     Arne Jacobsen designed the Bellevue lamp early in his career, the year of the Great Depression of 1929, when everyone felt the need for a new environment and a new lifestyle. Hi designed if for the Future House, a house he made in partnership with his friend Flemming Lassen for an exhibition in Copenhagen. The house have been kept like the Barcelona Pavilion by Mies Van Der Rohe and the Weissenhof Siedlung Van Der Rohe and Le Corbusier. Il was a circular construction, cut by straight lines and sharp angles. The lamp Bellevue is an echoes of this duality, with its curves and taut lines. In detail: Type : Floor lamp.
