I pile them up on a little table which gains its stability from the weight of the magazines. The table can be wheeled about like a trolley." A product is not really ready, until it isn’t used. Marcel Duchamp says that art needs someone that watches it, to make sense. And just as arts, a product needs the user. This is also a rule for bowls, shelves, beds and buildings. In Alex Bjurström’s Magazine Table these ideas have been collected, since the design for Design House Stockholm even made the external content a part of its construction. 'What should we do with high gloss magazines that lay around everywhere? I stack them on a small table that has its stability out of the own weight of the magazines. The table can be pushed from one place to another as if it was a trolley.” The Magazine Table unifies two functions in one piece of furniture: The newspaper stand and side table simultaneously. Whether you place it besides a couch or use it as bedside table. There is always enough space for a newspapers tower of 45 cm of height. The upwards inclined angle of the frame avoids that the magazines fall down. By the regular re-ordering of the magazines, the removing of some others and the addition of new ones, furthermore a sculpture is made that is in a constant state of changes. The table has enough space for a huge amount of further newspapers that might also be larger than DIN A4 magazines.
