    english-classics.net
English Classics Furniture Burl Elm Revolving Bookcase with Fan Inlay
The first thing that I notice about this hand crafted antique style elm revolving bookcase is the lovely fan inlay to the top. Combined with the marvelous elm wood and hand finish this revolving bookcase will make an attractive addition to any home or office for many years to come. A fine burled elm is used on the top of this revolving bookcase. The furniture maker has treated the wood to an elaborate hand finishing process leaving a gorgeous finish that looks like it has been around for many, many years. The corners of the top are canted (cut) so there are no sharp edges to catch on when the bookcase is turned or when you pass by it. The canted corners also give the revolving bookcase a more elegant feel than a simple square top would. The fan inlay is a traditional Georgian satinwood fan inlay that gives the bookcase a more traditional and elegant feel. Details like these are what make this piece a high quality, heirloom piece. This revolving bookcase was recently hand crafted in England by a third generation furniture maker. His care and attention to detail have made this a very sturdy piece of furniture. The plinth base sits firmly on the floor while everything above it rotates easily. A thick center column holds the weight of the shelves and decorative slats run up the left side of each of the four bookcase sides. Each slat is held firmly with three antiqued brass brads. This revolving bookcase is made to hold heavy books and can even support a heavy lamp as well. Each of the shelf areas on the bookcase (eight in total) measure 9.25″ wide x 6.5″ deep. The top shelves are 13.5″ tall and the bottoms are 12.5″ tall.

English Classics Furniture Antique Style Leather Office Chair
With adjustable height and tilt control this leather office chair has the look of an antique and the function of a new chair. It would make a statement in any office! Made from top grade leather and hand stitched in England, this chair is sure to last for many years. The burgundy leather (the color is also known as oxblood) is a semi-aniline dyed leather, which we feel is important for this kind of chair. Semi-aniline dyed leather is an aniline dyed leather with a light protective coat on top. This coat allows the leather to withstand everyday use and keep its alluring look. Brass brads and hand tied buttons keep the leather tight to the mahogany frame. This leather office chair is a brand new chair and was hand crafted by a leather specialist in England. By means of a pneumatic height adjustment the chair can go from having a seat height of 17.5″ to a maximum of 20.5″. There is a small lever underneath that controls the adjustment. This lever can also lock or unlock the tilt control. There is also a mechanism for controlling how sensitive the tilt is. The entire leather office chair sits on a mahogany base with large casters. These large casters roll easily on almost any surface. The style of the chair is what is referred to as a “Captains” style. This style has been popular for hundreds of years and is widely accepted as having originated because many portraits of sea captains were made with the captain sitting in this style of chair. This leather office chair is strong and sturdy. Being brand new it is in excellent condition and will last for many, many years.

English Classics Furniture Mountbatten Style Swivel Green Leather Desk Chair
This Mountbatten style swivel green leather desk chair is wonderfully comfortable and engagingly beautiful. It would be a perfect addition to any office or home office. Whether the style was given the name as tribute to the man or the style is based off of something Lord Mountbatten owned is unknown, however the regal style is fitting for its name. This chair was newly made in England by a highly skilled upholsterer with over 40 years of experience making leather furniture. The leather is a top grade hide of the utmost quality. It was treated to an elaborate coloring process that ends in a “rubbing” which leaves the raised areas a lighter color and the recesses darker. English Classics Furniture Mahogany TV Cabinet
Disguised as a chest of drawers, this mahogany TV cabinet would be perfect for any bedroom, living room, or den to house your entertainment electronics. This is a new piece that was recently hand crafted in England. It boasts a fine flame mahogany wood that has been accented with satinwood inlays around the top and faux drawer fronts. Both cabinet doors swing around to lay almost flat (they stick out about 4″ on either side in the back) to the sides of the TV cabinet. When closed, the doors lock and one key is included. Solid brass hardware on the doors add depth to the piece. The entire cabinet sits on a sturdy plinth base and is made to hold substantial weight if necessary. The interior is composed of a large, main area and two small peripheral compartments. The large area has interior measurements of 39.75″ wide x 23″ deep x 32″ tall. Each small compartment measures 19.5″ wide x 23″ deep x 3″ tall. There are wire/ventilation holes in each section. While a finely made piece of furniture, there is a defect to the top which has caused us to lower the price on this item. During its creation there was some kind of issue with the pressing of the flame mahogany veneer to the top which has caused two sections to have crackles. These are not immediately obvious and were hard to photograph. They are most visible in the glare of overhead lighting. We feel they add some character to a beautiful piece of furniture.

English Classics Furniture Mahogany Chippendale Coffee Table with Drawers
One of the most beautiful features of this mahogany Chippendale coffee table with drawers are the glorious selections of flamed mahogany that compose the top surface. The grain flows in wisps from the corners and grow lighter as they reach their adjacent destinations creating the illusion of fire. The top is bordered by a thick band of another choice wood called satinwood. This lies in stark contrast to the mesmerizing patina of the flame mahogany creating a wonderful combination. This table is lined with drawers on both of the longer sides for your storage needs (one side has working drawers the other side faux drawers). They reflect the same image as the top featuring the flame mahogany with the band of satinwood around the edges and are outlined with a beaded moulding. The three drawers on the front are easily opened and closed sliding on solid wood rails. The three on the back are faux (fake) and do not open but add an extra layer of aesthetic composition to this already marvelous piece. The elegant swan neck pulls that occupy the center of each drawer are made from solid brass. The extremely sturdy legs are fashioned in the traditional Chippendale style being straight-fluted and adorned with a bracket decoration on the inner corners. This piece would look grand sitting in front of a lovely sofa in your favorite sitting area. This table is new and in excellent condition. It was just recently made in England by a master craftsman. Lord Mountbatten held a large assortment of British military titles throughout his illustrious career and served as a professional head of the British Armed Forces for longer than anyone to date. Whether the style was given the name as tribute to the man or the style is based off of something Lord Mountbatten owned is unknown, however the regal style is fitting for its name.

After a quality coat of hand-brushed lacquer, several coats of wax were applied for a rich polish that fleshes out the natural beauty of the wood. Furniture paste wax can even be reapplied twice a year to maintain the table’s finish. • English Classics Furniture Antique Style Cherry Drop Leaf Dining Table
    english-classics.net
English Classics Furniture Antique Style Cherry Drop Leaf Dining Table
As flexible as it is beautiful, this stunning drop leaf dining table was recently hand-crafted in England by a third-generation cabinetmaker. Few furniture pieces offer such a solid combination of quality and function, one that is sure to complement any setting. From the selection of wood to the techniques used in the making of this exquisite drop leaf dining table, no detail was spared. The solid cherry and yew banding were first carefully selected by hand, and once the yew was inlaid into the cherry, the wood was then distressed using iron and stone implements. Next, the cabinetmaker applied stain, finish, and finally a thick, hand-rubbed coat of wax, which both protects and enriches the natural beauty of the wood. Standard furniture paste wax can also be re-applied to repair and maintain the wax coating. The result is a marvelously elegant dining table that would complement any setting. Often called a loper table, or sometimes even an Irish wake table, this piece offers a great deal of functionality in addition to its hand-crafted beauty. Because it is a drop leaf table, when not in use it takes up very little space relative to when it is opened. At 84″ long, it measures just 23.5″ wide with the leaves down and 60″ with both leaves up. This allows the table to be placed to the side–sometimes against a wall like a sideboard or hall table–serving as storage space or decor until it is needed for dining. Traditionally this has meant that the drop leaf dining table as a design enables the spaces that it occupies to serve multiple purposes (just like bureaus and nests of tables), which was quite a necessity in the small English homes and rooms that would have housed the first drop leaf tables. Structurally this table is quite strong. The solid cherry promises to not only grow more beautiful as time passes and a patina sets in, but it will also withstand years of use in the dining room. The leaves themselves rest on strong solid wood supports that slide out from the middle of the table. Lastly the round tapered legs, which end in sturdy pad feet, offer firm and durable support. This table will certainly withstand the test of time–the true measure of heirloom quality antique style reproductions!

English Classics Furniture Pair Of Nightstands In Mahogany
Hailing from England, this hand crafted pair of nightstands are a beautiful example of English furniture. While excellent for use next to a bed, they would also function perfectly as matching end tables by a sofa or chairs. These brand new bedside chests are of the utmost quality. The third generation furniture maker in England that built them uses time honored techniques to create heirloom quality pieces of furniture. The attention to detail in this pair of nightstands is amazing. The selection of fine mahogany wood is set off with antiqued brass ring pulls and satinwood bell-flower inlays. The bell-flower inlays are also known as “swag” inlays or garland inlays. Each of the tops is inlaid with a satinwood fan inlay, black line decal, and lighter mahogany band around the outside. The hand crafting process includes a seven stage hand rubbed finish, just like antique furniture that was built several hundred years ago. All of these details combine to make this pair of nightstands a stunning set. You will notice that all of the drawers are joined with dovetailed (another term for mortise and tenon) joints. These joints make the drawers as strong as possible. It is important that drawers be dovetailed since they will receive the most use and abuse on a functional piece of furniture. This type of construction will help the piece to last for lifetimes! The feet used are a sturdy bracket foot which not provide superior stability to the nightstands, but also fit in with the Georgian style look of the chests. Included in the pictures is a close up of one of the tops that has a slight mark in it. This mark is almost impossible to see unless the light is just right, but we wanted to show it anyways. The picture makes it look much more prevalent than it is.

Few breakfront dressers compare with the amazing appearance of this fine piece! To keep the masterfully honed beauty of this dresser, its structure is every bit as sturdy as its outward face is beautiful. The structure is made with thick solid wood joined using the finest glues and techniques. The drawers themselves are very strong and slide in and out very smoothly; with hand-cut dovetailed joints, they can bear weight for decades and remain as sturdy as the day they were first made. The piece in its entirety is very heavy, owing to a superb structure that will remain firm and steady for generations to come. This breakfront dresser is truly an heirloom quality piece!

  • English Classics Furniture Oak Drop Leaf Dining Table
    english-classics.net
English Classics Furniture Oak Drop Leaf Dining Table
Designed in a classic loper style, this fine drop leaf dining table was only recently bench-made by a third-generation cabinetmaker in England. Using the finest materials and expert techniques, he refined this table into a marvelous piece that will last for many years to come as a flexible and beautiful addition to any period furniture collection. The classic drop leaf design of this beautiful dining table makes it quite a versatile piece. With both leaves down, the depth measures 23.5″. With both leaves up, the table measures a full 72″ long x 60″ wide, perfect for regular dining or for special occasions. When the table is not in use, it can be placed against a wall like a sideboard. This functionality allows drop leaf dining tables like this one to adapt to many uses, hence the enduring popularity of the design after several centuries of use in traditional English furniture settings. The principle wood used in this lovely table is a rich selection of oak. Yew banding forms a beautiful, accentual border around the oval top, which contrasts beautifully with the oak. During construction, the wood was treated to an elaborate finishing process, beginning with hand-distressing and ending with a polish of fine, hand-rubbed wax. This last step helps to protect and enrich the natural beauty of the wood; wax can even be re-applied twice a year to maintain the polish. Finally the French legs, every bit as sturdy as they are elegant, are quite attractive in themselves and complement the oval table top. Few drop leaf dining tables can compare in quality to this astounding piece. The leaves continue to lift and drop very smoothly and rest on thick, solid wood supports that run beneath the table. The legs are very strong and their French design even strengthens the joins for durable support. The wood is also a prize selection, although one small part of the yew banding has been filled in owing to a small imperfection in the original wood. Overall the table is extremely well-made and will last for many decades to come as any truly heirloom quality piece should.

The result is an exquisite walnut credenza that would look stunning in any setting. Not only is this walnut credenza beautiful, but it is also very sturdy. The finish is thick and strong, so it resists wear marks and will continue to grow more beautiful as time passes and a patina settles into the wood. The solid brass hardware was, like the rest of this wonderful piece, crafted in England, so the mechanical parts like the hinges and locks promise to endure as long as the credenza in its entirety. Finally the solid wood structure is incredibly durable as well as a bit heavy, and will resist warping and cracking over the years. This is truly an heirloom quality credenza to pass down the generations, so it is both a promising addition to any period furniture collection as well as a mart investment.

What we have here is a truly magnificent large round pedestal dining table recently crafted by hand, with care in England. The maker is a third generation furniture maker and his generations of skill and knowledge shine through on this table. The round shape is perfect for encouraging conversation between all guests at the table. The splayed legs on the pedestal base are set back enough that they do not interfere with chairs or feet at the table. The most obvious and beautiful feature of this table is the beautiful selection and expert execution of the flame mahogany wood. This means rather than veneering it all in one direction he takes pie shaped slices and veneers them in a circle creating more patterns with the grain. The edge is then banded with an ebony inlay and rosewood cross band. He finishes the entire table off with a seven stage hand finish giving this new table an antique look and feel. The result is this gorgeous dining table that will impress all who see it. The top is fixed to the base via four large brass thumb screws. This means it will ship in two pieces (top and pedestal) making it much easier to get inside your home.

  • English Classics Furniture Georgian Style Mahogany Pair of Bedside Chests
    english-classics.net
English Classics Furniture Georgian Style Mahogany Pair of Bedside Chests
Made at the perfect height, this pair of bedside chests was recently crafted in England of the finest cathedral mahogany. This pair is not only beautiful, but very functional as well. The furniture maker who made these chests in England has decades of furniture making experience which shows in the quality and artistry of his work. He has used age old techniques to craft this beautiful pair of bedside chests. Each nightstand has three drawers. Each of the three drawers is constructed with dovetailed joints for superior strength and durability when compared to other joining techniques. Beyond that, he has fitted each drawer with a pair of solid brass swan neck drop pulls. These antiqued brass pulls contrast the cathedral mahogany of the pair of bedside chests. Also offsetting the mahogany grain are the satinwood string inlays on each drawer front and each chest top. These are real inlays, expertly hammered into the mahogany. In contrast to the better known flame mahogany which has a flaring grain, cathedral mahogany has a straighter, more uniform grain. This gives the wood a “neater” look and allows the inlays used with it to really pop out visually. This pair of bedside chests benefits from both the cathedral mahogany and the subtle use of satinwood inlays to give the pair a clean, crisp look. This pair of bedside chests has many characteristics of the Georgian style furniture period. The slightly canted corners, pulls, and bracket feet are the most noteworthy. Because these nightstands are brand new, they function perfectly. The drawers slide in and out very easily and the chests do not have the odor that can accompany older chests. The maker also took the time to cant the front corners of the tops, which minimizes the sharp edges that you can potentially bump into. Overall this pair of bedside chests is a stunning find that could function very well as nightstands or complimenting side tables.
