    Fritz Hansen Egg chair Armchair
Arne Jacobsen designed the Egg for the lobby and reception areas in the Royal Hotel, in Copenhagen. The commission to design every element of the hotel building as well as the furniture was Jacobsen's grand opportunity to put his theories of integrated design and architecture into practice. The Egg is one of the triumphs of Jacobsen's total design - a sculptural contrast to the building's almost exclusively vertical and horizontal surfaces. The Egg sprang from a new technique, which Jacobsen was the first to use : a strong foam inner shell underneath the upholstery. Like a sculptor, Jacobsen strove to find the shell's perfect shape in clay at home in his own garage. Because of the unique shape, the Egg guarantees a bit of privacy in otherwise public spaces and the Egg - with or without footstool - is ideal for lounge and waiting areas as well as the home. The Egg is available in a wide variety of fabric upholstery as well as leather, always combined with a star shaped base in satin polished aluminium. In detail: Type : Armchair. Colour : Brown leather. Material : Shell : polyurethane foam with glass fibre reinforcement - Polished aluminium base. Dimensions : W 86 cm x D 79 to 95 cm x H 107 cm - Seat : H 37 cm. Characteristics : Swiveling base - Adjustable backrest.

Republic of Fritz Hansen Fritz Hansen - Egg Armchair
The Egg Chair offers comfort and privacy at public places. Arne Jacobsen designed the Egg for the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen in 1958. This originally formed chair became a synonym for Danish furniture design all around the world. The Egg is perfectly suitable for receiving and waiting areas as well as for private homes. The specialty at the Egg Armchair is its form that reminds of an eggshell through its curved lines. Thereby the chair invites to a comfortable seating experience and shields the sitting person from its laterals and to the back. Furthermore the backrest is bent at the upper end and reminds of a classic wings chair. That makes the stay inside of the Egg Armchair a private and restful matter, also at public places. Originally designed for the lobby of the Hotel, the designer Arne Jacobsen wanted to create a chair that would suit a high quality surrounding through its sophisticated design and simultaneously offer a bit of privacy in public rooms. The Egg is wonderfully suitable for receptions and waiting rooms as well as for private homes - with or without Ottoman. The Egg Armchair from Fritz Hansen is also available in further colours as well as with the suitable foot stool.

He was a trained carpenter who continued studies at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts. He moved on to work at Fritz Hansen, for about a year, where he designed a number of noteworthy chair prototypes. In 1955, Kjærholm started collaborating with manufacturer Ejvind Kold Christensen, which lasted until his death in 1980. In 1982, Fritz Hansen took over the production and sales of "The Kjærholm Collection", developed from 1951 to 1967, designs, which are logical to the minute detail with an aura of exclusivity. The PK24 chaise is adjustable and based on a satin-brushed stainless steel frame, it is upholstered in leather and has a matching adjustable leather headrest with a counter-weight in steel. 26.4" w | 61" d | 34.3" h.

Design Hans J. Wegner, 1944. Cherry or mahogany, leather upholstery. Made in Denmark by Fritz Hansen. "Many foreigners have asked me how we made the Danish style. And I've answered that it...was rather a continuous process of purification, and for me of simplification, to cut down to the simplest possible elements of four legs, a seat and combined top rail and arm rest." -Hans Wegner. In 1944, Danish design legend Hans J. Wegner masterfully designed the China chair for conference use and private homes. This elegant chair follows the guidlines of Wegner's designs by using beautiful wood and quality craftsmanship. A classic piece of Danish modern design. Hans J. Wegner is one of the architects and designers who made Danish Design world famous. Wegner inscribes his name in the history of design first and foremost via a range of tables and chairs which are without predecessors in furniture design, yet stand in their own right as the most natural thing in the world, inevitable like new letters in the alphabet. Colour : Chocolate. Material : Shell : polyurethane foam with glass fibre reinforcement - Polished aluminium base. Dimensions : W 86 cm x D 79 to 95 cm x H 107 cm - Seat : H 37 cm. Characteristics : Swiveling base - Adjustable backrest.
