    Hay Blow Armchair
The lounge chair Blow refers to the classic bean bag in construction and appearance. Both of them are exclusively manufactured from stuffing and fabrics but without the obvious disadvantages of the bean bag such as lack of firmness and comfort. The idea for the chair evolved from a wish to improve and industrialize the expensive process of upholstery of furniture where much of the work is done by hand. With Blow designers Foersom and Hiort-Lorenzen have taken on the challenge of reversing the moulding process in order to facilitate mass production - that is to cover the mould with the fabric and shoot the foam into the fabric rather than covering the set foam with fabric. This technology is used by the car industry to make seats firm but without losing the softness. In detail: Type : Armchair. Colour : Grey. Material : "Polyurethan foam upholstery - Cover in polyester ""Nicole"" fabric - Base in pressed wood" Dimensions : W 87 cm x D 86 cm x H 62 cm - Seat : H 30 cm. Characteristics : Swivel base - Moulded process reversed : Cover the mould with the fabric and shoot the foam into the fabric rather.

The chair of the Wrong for Hay Collection which emerged out of the feather of the Britain designer Sebastian Wrong, bribes with simplicity. Nearly completely geometrically made, the Hay Slope Chair looks like a sculpture. The design of the Slope Chair is hard to beat in clearness. The surprise is that, despite of the clearness, the chair is still very comfortable: The “slope” in the backrest and seat of the chair makes it ergonomic. Hay produces the seat and the backrest of PU-foam, which is flexible and adaptable to the body. The frame is made of ash wood. The Wrong for Hay Slope chair is also available with different frames (natural or black stained ash wood and oiled oak wood) and seats (black, grey and green).

    Hay - Ray Lounge Chair
The Lounge Chair Ray was one of the first furniture pieces which came in production by the design-blacksmiths Hay. And it is the first design for an armchair by Jakob Wagners. Inspiration for Ray was the ocean – its plain, elegant shape is the similar like from its namesake, the Ray. The seating plate is wide, but it still seems really light, just like the fish is Ray thicker in the middle and becomes slender to the "wing tips". This is because of the soft springing which makes a nicer seating comfort. The overhanging of the seat makes it possible to put a magazine or plate next to you, or to just put your feet up. With the harmony of shape and function Ray purport any direction, with which Hay became famous in the design scene: The perfect balance of Scandinavian tradition and modernism stand for the whole collection of the Danish manufacturer from Horsens. Ray is also available as swivel chair. Furthermore there are further fabrics and colours available against extra charge.
  • Hay - Hee Lounge Chair

    Hay - Hee Lounge Chair
The idea for Hee came up of the effort, to design an eco-friendly chair and armchair, whose material is easy to recycle. To create a piece of furniture out of one material, they avoid micro-pollutant transport ways between different production places, and it makes the process of recycling more easy. The main thought was to take an archetypal chair as model and to perfection it in every single detail and to boost it in a higher class and also to make it simpler and make the functionality better. A clear, plain piece of furniture was supposed to be created which should fit in many places - modern, but not too time-specific. Nothing is too much on this lounge chair, no decorations. No part could be taken off, without loosing the function. From the outside it seems playful, but the design doesn't affect its function. Throw-away mentality and environmental awareness don't fit together. To find the balance was also important while the construction - to combine functionality and aesthetic on high level, the exact wire strength had to be chosen. The Hee-chairs, the Lounge Chair and also the bar stool are made of a 11 mm strong metal wire and in their shape they remind on a sketch, a three-dimensional pencil- drawing. Hee is available in the engrossment as a club armchair, as dining chair or as bar stool. It can be looked at in the new Osloer Opera House and in the Australian parliament. The stackable furnitures are galvanised and powder coated. That's why they can be used in every kind of weather and are a good outside furniture, too.

The Danish manufacturer Hay invited the designer brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec to design a collection for the re-designed Copenhagen University (KUA). The result was the Copenhague series, which consists of a chair, a bar stool and diverse tables. Hay and the Bouroullecs tried to design furniture for educational institutions, which clearly belong to this generation with their form and identity and which fulfil the demands of a university. That’s the reason why the Copenhague Chair is very functional, but without getting too serious in its expression. Since both designers also concentrated on renouncing institutional and office-like expressions of traditional furniture in scholar environments with their Copenhague Chair. They wanted to design objects with bigger originality and a homely appeal. Hay manufactures the Copenhague Chair out of different kinds of wood and more are available on demand.

    Hay - J77 Chair
The J77 is part of the originally by FDB produced chairs collection, which has been re-edited by Hay: A classic chair in Danish design, which is absolutely timeless. Folke Pålsson designed his J77 Chair in the middle of the past century: He was oriented by traditional Windsor chairs when he sketched the shape of his chair. The Windsor chairs were already very popular in the 18th century. The Danish reduced the design to the necessary without renouncing the classic virtues of the chair when he planned to take the Windsor chairs to contemporaneous times. The production out of beech wood and the slim form of the tubes at the backrest offer an appeal which is weightless and massive at the same time to the J77 Chair by Hay. The wide seat makes the J77 comfortable, while it is suitable for the most different surroundings with its classic-minimalistic design.

    Hay - Blow Armchair
The lounge-armchair Blow is in its appearance and construction a reminiscence on the classic beanbag. Lik this it is made of only a coat and filling material. Because Blow is made of a strong foam, doesn' show the famous disadvantages in stability and seating comfort. The idea for Blow comes from the wish, to convey and optimate the expensive cushion of seating furniture in a mechanical processen. To do so, the designers turned the production process completely inside out. With Blow the design-duo Johannes Foersom and Peter Hiort-Lorenzen accepted the challenge and turned the production process completely inside out. First the coat is spaned over the model shape and then the foam is sprayed into it – normally the process works the different way, first the filling, then the coat. On this new way a cheap production of many products is given. The technique is also used for the production of car seats , which are strong, but not hard. The comfortable and sculptural seating shell of the lounge armchair is mounted in a rotatble plate, through which the whole seating area can be rotated on 360 degrees. The Blow Armchair is also available in other colour versions!

  • Hay - Prince Chair
    connox.com
    Hay - Prince Chair
Prince Chair was originally designed for a competition setting the task of creating a chair for His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Denmark. The seat is an allusion to the old paper cuttings of H. C. Andersen and gives the chair a comforting lightness and softness contrasting the steel framework. The Prince Chair sits cleverly between historical reference and prescient modernity. Making this chair more than a drawing on paper has challenged modern manufacturing technology using both water-cutting and laser-cutting to perforate the neoprene and felt seat and steel frame. The result is a refreshing alternative to upholstery. The Prince Chair did not win the competition but has since then taken on a high-flying life of its own. It has won several awards and is now part of the MoMa collection in New York. The Prince Chair is produced by the Danish company Hay today.

    Hay - Nobody Chair
The designer of the Danish duo Komplot were the first ones who created an industrial-produced chair, which is only made of textile canvas. Nobody is formed out of one piece and was produced in only one phase, which solution is a plain, light and stackable modern chair, which copes up with the demands of our time in the materials and production ways. The innovative chair won many famous Design Prizes (like the Design Plus Award 2009, Forum AID Award 2008). Its shape reminds of a piece of fabric, which is put on a chair, to protoct it. Will the chair be taken away from it, will the shape still be like it was before, and the fabric itself is the construction. That's why it is called Nobody – no body. Also the name bears on the chair which is hidden under the chair and not used. With Nobody the designers Boris Berlin and Poul Christiansen turn the idea of the modernism inside out. Cushions have never been assessed, because they hide the basic structure of a furniture piece. While they kept the basic thought of the modernism with the demand for simplicity, easyness and the possibilities of the mass-production, the complot-duo removed the base in favour of cushioning, which becomes to the basic element. The chair is only made of form-pressed PET-Felt, a material which can be recycled to 100%, and which is made of recyclable plastic bottles. It is made out of one cast - neither a supporting frame, nor screws, plastic, glue, joints, or other connecting elements. The same technique is used in the mobile industry, to produce storing places and shorings for trunks. Nobody is also available in other colours.

The Lounge Chair Ray was one of the furniture pieces that were produced by the young Danish design smithy Hay. And it was Jakob Wagner’s first design for an armchair. His inspiration source was the sea – its simple, elegant Form is the same that its namesake has. The seat is wide, but still the Ray Lounge Chair seems weightless. And as well as the animal, Ray is thicker in the middle and becomes thinner to the “wings’ points”. This creates a softer upholstery and a better seat comfort. The outstanding of the chair makes it possible to place a plate or a newspaper beside one or to put your feet up and relax. With the harmony out of form and function, Ray decided the direction where Hay established itself in the following years in the design-scene: the perfect balance between Scandinavian tradition and modern signs characterize the whole collection of the Danish manufacturer out of Horsens. Ray is available with further coatings and in different colours.
