Hay - Wrong for Hay Wooden Shelf
The Wooden Shelf of the Wrong for Hay Collection by the Danish manufacturer Hay appears straight-lined and clear. The simple design is charming and it has more advantages than you might think. The specialty of the Hay Wooden Shelf is the clever construction: The complete shelving system is easy to be mounted, since the designer Lucien Gumy designed the Wooden Shelf completely without any screws. The single pieces are easily plugged, offering more flexibility to the shelf. The assembly without any tools isn’t the only easy thing: different board sizes and tubes are also mixed becoming shelves in different sizes. The design, which Lucien Gumy named “L’étagère en bois” on the Cologne furniture fair in 2013, won the junior prize of the fair, the [D3] Contest. Hay produces the Wooden Shelf of massive, matt painted oak wood in different pre-configured sizes. The shelf’s depth is always 38,3 cm. The shelf’s height is available in 177,6 or 213,5 cm and the length varies between 120, 184,2 and 376,8 cm.

    Hay - Woody Sideboard
The Woody Sideboard from Hay is the smaller brother from the Woody shelves. It possesses the same design and the same qualities like the shelf, but in sideboard dimensions. Woody is the modern interpretation inspired by a traditional ladder. Without obvious front and back side it is suitable as free standing furnishing element as well as standing at a wall. Also it follows the idea not to create a shelf that looks too dominant combined with the sideboard so that there is enough room for the objects that are placed in the shelf. Woody decidedly wears the spirit of modern times in it. It renounces unnecessary knick-knacks and the details of the construction are not hidden. The sideboard does completely consist of oak wood, wooden bars, steel and screws. The treated oak offers a Scandinavian expression to the shelf that is renewed and contrasted by the shelf inserts. This is how a beautiful connection between tradition and modern time, from simplicity, modernity and playful feelings emerges. Typical for the Danish design company Hay and its exclusive collection – because the fact that the contemporaneous Scandinavian designers can revitalize the tradition from the fifties and sixties is part of the conviction of Rolf Hay, who could enter the market with his company, fast establishing it, in the year 2003.

    Hay Woody low Shelf - L 206 x H 85 cm
Woody is a modern interpretation of traditional ladder inspired shelving systems. With no apparent front and back it works well as a free standing piece of furniture as well as against a wall. One of the greatest strengths of the shelving system is the thorough simplicity which emanates from the idea that a shelving system should not be too visually dominant and should leave room for the items placed in it. Woody is created in the spirit of modernism. Nothing in the construction is hidden, all joints are visible and all parts are industrially manufactured. Simplifying and updating more traditional shelving systems has been a key element in the development of Woody which simply consists of oak sticks, bent steel and screws. At the same time great effort has been put into perfecting the joints in terms of form and strength. Solid oak is an incredibly strong material and it ages beautifully, so in spite of the lightness in its appearance, the structure is surprisingly strong and stable compared to other shelving systems of this type. The light soap treated oak provides Woody with a traditional Scandinavian expression, which is updated by the contrasting steel shelves. The shelves lie freely on the wooden frame. In detail: Type : Shelf - Bookcase. Colour : Natural oak / White - W 206.5 cm x H 85.5 cm. Material : Frame in solid oak (thickness 25 mm) - Powder coated steel shelves. Dimensions : W 206,5 cm x D 44,5 cm x H 85,5 cm. Characteristics : 3 rows and 3 layers - Included : 9 removable shelves.

    Hay - Woody Shelf
Woody is the modern interpretation, of a traditional shelving system inspired by a ladder. Without obvious back- and front sides, it can be used as an isolated furniture piece, or mounted on the wall. It follows the idea that a shelf visually shouldn't seem too dominant, so there's enough room for tools to be positioned inside of it. Woody has obviously the soul of modernism in it. There are no unnecessary extras and the details of the construction aren't hidden. The shelf is only made of oak wood, wooden bars, steel and screws. The treated oak gives the shelf a traditional Scandinavian expression, which will be renewed and contrasted through the steel shelf inlays. A nice connection between tradition and modernism emerge: Typical for the Danish design company Hay and their exclusive collection - since the contemporaneous Scandinavian designers are able to vitalize the tradition of the 50s and 60s, with Rolf Hay believing it, establishing his company very fast in the year 2003.
