    Kartell Frilly Stacking Chair
Design Patricia Uroquiola, 2008. Batch-dyed polycarbonate. Made in Italy by Kartell. Frilly, Patricia Urquiola's new transparent polycarbonate chair for Kartell, was born from the idea of an industrial sculpture transformed into a charming ergonomic shape. The wavy effect covering the entire structure gives this chair a light and soft look, like pleated fabric, for a sensual, fun and feminine optical effect. The wide range of colors is reminiscent of natural elements, giving the chair a further light and lovely touch. Born in Oviedo, Patricia Urquiola attended the Madrid Polytechnic and the Milan Polytechnic Universities where she graduated in 1989 with Achille Castiglioni as her supervisor of whom she was assistant at the Milan Polytechnic from 1990 to 1992. Kartell Joe Colombo 4801 Armchair
Design Joe Colombo. Transparent or batch-dyed PMMA. Made in Italy by Kartell. For the first time in its 60-year history, Kartell will pay homage to one of the most iconic - and perhaps uncharacteristic - pieces in its archive with the reissue of Joe Colombo's 4801 Armchair. Originally designed by the Italian master in 1965, the 4801 chair is famous for being the only Kartell piece ever to be made entirely of wood. Now, nearly fifty years later, Kartell has developed the complex and technically challenging engineering methods necessary to produce the design as originally envisioned, in its signature plastic. An authentic symbol of design in the '60s, the highly sought-after 4801 chair is revered by private collectors and institutions alike, and has been displayed internationally at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. The second generation of the 4801 chair is to be available in a numbered series beginning in February 2012, captures the curving sinuous lines and exact proportions of Colombo's design, now in sleek transparent or white and black plastic (PMMA). Joe Colombo, in his design utopia, gathered many of the common hopes of the 60's in Italy and Europe but was never slave to ideological bounds. His extremely fast escalation in becoming an internationally known designer brought him three medals at the XIII Triennale in Milan, the 1967 Compasso d'Oro award and creations which are included in permanent collections around the world. 24.4" w | 25.2" d | 27.2" h | seat: 9.8" h.

    Kartell Form Lounge Chair
Design Piero Lissoni. Polyurethane, steel. Made in Italy by Kartell. A series of open and transversal seating solutions, ideal for both the home or meeting areas. The basic element of the Form series is a seat which is both spacious and an ergonomic design. Constructed with a sheet of semi-structural polyurethane which rests on a light structure in chromed steel. The overall impression offers, viewed from the front, the appearance of a wide and comfortable seat, while the profile characterizes the result of meticulous research into the thickness of the material. Thanks to this research, it has been possible to reduce the thickness to only 3 cm, at the same time maintaining solidity, resistance and flexibility. The transverse character of the series is the result of the possibility of placing the armchairs side by side and hooking them together, thus forming an open seating system ideal for waiting halls and hotel reception areas. 33" w | 31" d | 24" h | seat: 12" h.
