Kenzo Takada founded the Kenzo label in 1970 and it is still going strong even today. It was, and is, a great success with a strong cult following and we get excited when we find amazing vintage pieces. Kenzo traveled the world and his designs show the influence of those travels. He often mixed Japanese lines with fabric from around the world and he paid as much attention to the interior of the clothes as to the exteriors. This suit is just a gem. The cut and lines are sublime and I love the fabric. It looks like it is a heavy woven brocade but it is actually quite light and wearable. It is woven but far finer in person then you first expect. The skirt has an elastic waist and a ruffled edge and is cut quite full so that that when you move it has tremendous fullness. Yet because the fabric is fairly light it falls pretty straight with just a suggestion of that fullness. The jacket is superb. It id cut to fit to the body with full shoulders and sleeves that narrow at the wrist. The front wraps over itself and there is an amazing flower embroidered down the front. A saucy little peplum finishes it to perfection I love everything about it. Excellent, appears unworn condition. Unlined, the skirt has an elastic waist and slips on. The jacket is also unlined and closes with the buttons at the front. Each cuff closes with two buttons.
