Many offices in America were furnished according to the same scheme because of Florence Knoll’s pioneering work together with the Knoll Planning Unit. Florence Knoll designed her Florence Table in order to create a place which would be better adapted to the communicative function than furnishings were before. With her knowledge about architecture, Knoll banished the intimidating, massive table and replaced it by an inviting solution: The Florence Couch Table of 1961 is clearly inspired by Mies van der Rohe, one of Florence Knoll’s mentors. Some say that Florence Knoll had an argument with one of the employees because of a 16th and 32nd particle of an inch, in the moment of designing the proportions of the table. The details of the Florence Couch Table are simple and make up clear beauty with perfect dimensions. These characteristics fast took the table out of offices and into numerous homes and public rooms all over the world. There are different table tops available, for example out of marble or glass. We will gladly advise you for individual configurations.

Design Eero Saarinen, 1956. Aluminum base, laminate, marble or veneer top. Made by Knoll. In his purist approach to design, Finnish-born Eero Saarinen sought out the essential idea and reduced it to the most effective structural solution. In his pedestal collection, which includes a dining, coffee and side table, Saarinen realized his ideal of formal unity: "Every significant piece of furniture has a holistic structure." Winner of the 1969 Museum of Modern Art Award. Construction notes: Base is constructed from molded cast aluminum polished and coated in tough, abrasion-resistant rilsan finish (black & white).
