Iittala Kastehelmi Footed Bowl - Apple Green
The Finnish word kastehelmi means dewdrop, which refers to the rings of small glass beads that give each piece in the Iittala Kastehelmi collection its distinct character. The idea of using droplets of glass as decoration came to Oiva Toikka when he was thinking of ways to hide the joint marks left by the production process. The result was Iittala Kastehelmi, which features rings of tiny glass bubbles that extend outwards from the centre of each piece. Today, as then, Iittala Kastehelmi is one of the most beloved series in the Iittala range.

The originally 1964 presented Kastehelmi Votives by Iittala are meanwhile legendary. While they were a revolutionary new product in glass manufactures during that time, they became real classics by now. The Kastehelmi Votives by Iittala unify two elements in one: water and fire. The word "Kastehelmi” means dewdrop in Finnish. The hot flame and the cool dewdrop make up wonderful reflections that come out of this ambience light. This is how the Kastehelmi Votives soon became one of the most successful series of Iittala until the production was stopped in 1988. Oiva Toikka tried to find a method of hiding seams in a pressed glass in the 60s. By this means is how he had the idea of placing small glass-drops in the seams. His experiment developed to a completely new design that has been reedited now by Iittala. The Kastehelmi Votives by Oiva Toikka are available in seven evocatively colours.

The spectrum of the colours of Kivi and its expressive shapes accentuate the candle light, because the lighting of the flame is amplified. The timelessly plainess and depth of a moment in the candle light has been implemented by Heikki Orvola. The hand, which holds it, finds Kivi also very pleasant, as the eye which looks at it. The Kivi Tea Light Holder is very effective as a single light on the table and windowsill, but also accentuates in a group. Through the large colour choice you can choose the one which you like best. Combine them with each other - the possibilities are endless. With Kivi Heikki Orvola created a piece of art for Iittala, which changes every moment into something very special. The Kivi Big Tea Light Holders are larger than the normal Kivi Tea Light Holders.

    Iittala - Kaasa Fireplace
Kaasa is a bioethanol working fireplace for the interior and exterior illumination from Iittala. The design was coined by the Finnish designer Ilkka Suppanem. Kaasa is made out of heat resistant glass and stainless steel by Iittala. Initially, Kaasa was an historical sea-sign (Baken), which stool along the Bothnia sea coast before. They were manufactured out of stone or wood and were similar to wooden piles of fireplaces before burning. Some Kaasas were sea signs for sailors, others marked good fishing areas, Sometimes there was fire set near Kaasas, to keep enemies away. At the end of the 19th century Kaasas lost their meaning and were replaced by lighthouses. Ilkka Suppanem created a new interpretation of these historical sea signs for the Finnish manufacturer Iittala. The word "Kaasa” comes from the Finnish concept "kasa” which means pile or bunch. More details: Kaasa is adapted to be used in rooms at normal temperatures (15 to 25 °C). It shouldn’t be used at places with direct sun income or near warmth sources. It has to be mounted so that no direct wind comes to it, e.g. in front of an open door or an open window. The room, where Kaasa is used in, shouldn’t have less than 25 m² of area or 60 m³ of volume and it has to be sufficiently aired. Kaasa shouldn’t be used as heater.
