The Massaud table lamp w083 from Wästberg asks the question: Can lamps be art? It doesn’t matter what the answer is, the design object by Jean-Marie Massaud convinces as table lamp. The table lamp w083 refers to topics like light, gravity, simplicity and harmony as sculptural object. The table lamp by Wästberg acts weightless and reduced, its minimalistic corpus seems to float impressively effortless over the table. The specialty: W083 attracts all eyes even when it is switched off, but without drifting into showmanship. The functionality of the w083 is as impressive as the slim, organic shape of it. Wästberg - Winkel Table Lamp 127b2
Plastic can be environmentally friendly! ”When I first thought of the design of my table lamp, I had the demand of questioning the cognition of common utilities of the material, known only as ‘plastic’ by most of the people. I wanted to go further than what was normal, not only regarding the function and the appearance, but also regarding the touch of the material” , explained Dirk Winkel. The German designed soon realized the big deficit of most of the plastic products: The substance, the material itself. That’s the reason why the material is celebrated just the way it is in the Wästberg Winkel table lamp 127b2 : Straight forward, without hiding anything. The cable lying outside, the visible spring feathers and the geometrical outlines make the design this pure and honest. Inside of the w127 there is energy efficient Multichip-LED-Technology. Multichip means that the single diodes are aligned like a cluster – this is how micro-shadows are avoided and the light becomes exceptionally homogeneous. The light of the working lamp by Wästberd is step less adjustable with an integrated IR-dimmer switch at the lamp’s head and it is glare-free because of a diffuser. Another technical refinement is the integrated timer, which switches the light off automatically after five hours of performance. Wästberg produces the Winkel table lamp 127b2 out of injection moulded bio polyamide, fiberglass reinforced. About 60% of the lamp is made of biological material , gained out of the so-called wonder tree of tropical woods. The castor-oil producing plant doesn’t affect the aliments production: It is ecological and socially compatible. Wästberg offers the lamps in two basic editions: The Winkel w127b1 has two joints and one arm, while the 2-arms w127b2 has three joints. Both editions are available with different mounting parts (foot, table clamp, pin and clamp) and in the colours white, grey, red and black.

Wästberg - Claesson Koivisto Rune Pendant Lamp w131
The design team Claesson Koivisto Rune designed a contemporaneous pendant lamp with an archetypical form with their w131. The diameter of 12 cm is rather small, but this doesn’t mean that there is less light coming out of the w131. The light’s intensity, the energy efficiency and especially the light beam angle depends on the used illuminant, as it is the case for many lamps. The w131 pendant lamp from Wästberg offers many options for the suitable bulb with its Gu10 socket. Another advantage is the size of the w131 when the pendant lamp should be installed together with some more on top of a larger dining table for example. The different colours in which the lamp is available offer numerous construction possibilities, which is the reason why it is also suitable for bigger furnishing projects in public places. The soft and friendly expression of the Claesson Koivisto Rune pendant lamp w131 comes from the material, since the sand cast aluminium of the lampshade is delivered with a textile cable in a colour adapted to the shade.

Historical design icons such as the steering wheel of a legendary Citroën DS were the source of inspiration for the Claesson Koivisto Rune floor lamp w126f. While the design of the lamp from Wästberg acts retro-futuristic, the technique is absolutely modern. The design team Claesson Koivisto Rune designed a lamp which is equally suitable for offices and homes with their w126f: Two powerful, independent LED light sources at the surface and base of the lamp’s head make up the core of the floor lamp w126f. It is possible to adjust both: The indirect light upwards or the direct light downwards. The Claesson Koivisto Rune floor lamp w126f is intuitively adjusted via two simple touch-sensors. Both light sources aren’t only adjusted independently there, but they are also step-less dimmable. Of course both light sources (46 W and 28 W) can also be switched on and adjusted at the same time. This makes the w126f a real all-rounder: As ceiling flooder id spreads pleasant indirect light to feel well and to illuminate a whole room. If the lower light is switched on, direct light will shine through the glare-free diffuser, which is usable as reading light or working light. This is how the w126f always spreads suitable light, which is individually adjustable in its intensity and direction. The 250 energy efficient LEDs spread warm white light with 3000 K, which changes the ambience in the room as well as its own character according to how it is dimmed. The Wästberg w126 is also available in further colours and as working lamp (with pin support).

Wästberg - Nendo Table Lamp Sphere w132t3
The Nendo Sphere w132t3 from Wästberg is a table lamp, which represents the result of its single parts. What might seem obvious and natural, is really a characteristic of the lamp’s construction. A table lamp, a floor lamp and a pendant lamp belong to the collection and they all have similar construction elements, differing in their details. The minimalistic lamps, designed by the Japanese studio Nendo for Wästberg, are available with lampshades in three archetype shapes: A cylinder, a cone and a sphere. A tubular support runs through the middle of every shade, hiding the electricity source in its end: While the cable of the pendant lamp is in the upper end of it, the cable of the table and floor lamps hides in the foot. Table and floor lamps differ in the length of the (with a screw) height adjustable light tube. These are all the components of the lamps – genius and absolutely reduced. There is a diffusor hidden inside of the lampshade, which spreads the light directly downwards softly, glare-free and pleasantly. The Sphere w132t3 fits in almost every place because of its clear, geometrical design – in private homes and in public rooms. The Wästberg Sphere w132 is also available as table lamp Cone , as table lamp Cylinder and as pendant lamp Sphere. There are more colours of this table lamp available, and the model can also be ordered as pendant and floor lamp.

The light’s head is vertically and horizontally adjustable, a turning mechanism in the iron socket ensures the rotation capacity of the whole lamp. The joint is adjustable by means of the wing-screw and it can also be used to fix the lamp’s arm in a desired position. The Wästberg w084 is also available as table lamp with one arm (w084t1), as floor lamp, as wall lamp with a 2m swivel arm and as pendant lamp. All the editions are moreover available with an accentuating red cable or a dark brown cable.

We live in a world where the online life makes up a big part of our lives. As a consequence, we often spend a lot of time with people, without really being near them. The Frits Hansen Analog table counteracts this trend by means of putting us closer together. This intention also named the table designed by Jaime Hayon. Analog table: Multifunctional and social The Fritz Hansen Analog table tributes the unaltered togetherness of people at one table. Analog invites you to engagements, exchanges, intimacy and presence; in fewer words it invites you to exist offline. The Analog table isn’t square, round or oval – it has a new form which unifies the best thing of these three classic types in an organic way: The functional qualities of an angular table and the social ones of a round one. There is no hierarchy, only one beautiful platform for conversations that perfectly suit the modern relation between family members, friends and colleagues. The legs of the Fritz Hansen Analog table are slightly drawn back underneath the table top, in order to ensure a pleasant place to sit at all around the table. The inclined position of the legs ensures dynamism to the Analog table, since this is how the multifunctional table appears differently from every angle it is watched from. These qualities reinforce the dynamism even more, which is what Fritz Hansen and Jaime Hayon really wanted. These are the reasons why the Fritz Hansen Analog table is versatile: It can be used as dining table, desk, and conference table or to sit comfortably together after work has been done with 6 or 8 people – a real new centre of the place we live in. Analog is available in two sizes and five editions: As table for 6 or 8 people and with a table top in white laminate, oak wood and walnut veneer.

The classic piece is produced again by Vitra, 75 years after its first presentation on a Swiss exposition in 1939. The Landi Chair dates back to design’s origins. Hans Coray, a Swiss humanist and artist, designed the aluminium chair as official seat for the outside of the Swiss Exposition of 1939. The graduated Romanist and auto-didactic among furniture designers made a chair, which was weatherproof and as weightless as comfortable. It is still trend-setting because of the efficient use of materials and the functional elegance. As a classic piece of modernity, the Vitra Landi Chair reached a fix place in design’s history and in numerous international design museums. Vitra Landi Chair: A pioneer’s achievement of modernity The Landi Chair uses the technical advantages of aluminium processing as no other model of that time does. The austere and elegant design is adapted to the industrial production and processing of the material and it entered the history as masterpiece of modernity. The sear of the Vitra Landi Chair doesn’t only follow the contour of the sitting person, but it is also shaped in its cross direction, unlike the plywood seats of Alvar Aalto. A three-dimension formed seat, whose comfort is still raised by the flexibility of the aluminium sheet, emerged this way for the first time. The seat has 91 punched holes, which give the Landi Chair its characteristic look; they reduce the weight of the chair and also let rain water drain. Hans Coray used aluminium in a different way for the base of the Landi Chair: As extruded section, which is weightless and also stable because of the c-like cross section. The bent aluminium profiles form a pair of legs with armrest and – connected by two thin tubes – each one and they are the base together. The punched seat of the Vitra Landi Chair floats on this base only supported at four points. The Landi Chair therewith introduced a constructive principle, which was systematized and perfected by Charles and Ray Eames some years later and which is indispensable in furniture design today: The seat and backrest bowl which rests in a self-carrying base. The weatherproof Landi Chair is produced industrially according to the original design of 1939 today, and it is vertically stackable. The matt anodized surface of the material offers the characteristic, silver-shimmering presence to this classic piece by Vitra.

The Vitra Davy Table is a robust table to be used outside. Its construction is made of anodized aluminium sheet and aluminium tube, which ensures high stability despite of the low weight. The young Swiss designer Michel Charlot developed the Davy Table as complementary piece for the legendary, Hans Coray designed Landi Chair. This is how the Davy Table and the Landi Chair perfectly suit each other, but other chairs and tables combinations. The weatherproof Vitra Davy Table suits in very different places, despite of (or because of) its technical, untreated looking material and thanks to its compact proportions. The Davy Table has a punched hole for sunshades in the middle of the table top; up to four tables are stackable and its four pads are height adjustable if the ground isn’t flat. Vitra produces the table top and the frame of the Davy Table out of aluminium sheet with a matt anodized surface. The legs-support is made of powder-coated zinc-die casting, while the stacking protection and the pads are made of light grey TPE. Practical against tilting: The height of the single table legs can be adjusted by turning the pads.
