Menu Design Menu - Norm Steel Wall Clock
Norm Steel Clock by Menu is a light and simplistic clock with steel hands - designed by the Copenhagen-based simplicity lovers at Norm Architects. Minimalism is not a modern style. Minimalism has been the norm in many cultures all over the globe since the beginning of civilization. People have strived continually for material poverty as a way to inner luxury. Reduction and perfection have been the main goal for both craftsmen and inventors – because avoiding the irrelevant meant emphasising the important. Norm Architects aim for geometrical purity, a simple naturalness and a reduced authenticity for a sense of calm and repose – which is clearly seen in the Steel Wall Clock, designed by the Danish manufacturer Menu. The powder coated steel looks matt and the soft colours with slightly contrasting pointers remain decently in the visual background. These qualities make the Menu Steel Wall Clock look timeless: It is a master example for the soft minimalism followed by Norm.

    urbanature - high garden
Designer Jörg Brachmann challenged the problem of plants inside and outside of the house. The unusual garden keeps flowers at a height of 1,48, where you will be able to see them at eye-level. Urbanature is responsible for eye-catchers inside and outside of the house Green plants ensure freshness and comfort inside of the house, but they also cause some problems sometimes: Garden herbs and pot plants block the windows so that we aren’t really motivated to remove them for fresh air. Heaters at windows dry the soil in the plant pots so that one witted leave is followed by another one. And the summer sun will burn the dried leaves in the end. If all of it blocks our green thumbs, the high garden is a solution. Place it wherever you like in the room for the plants to be seen at eye-level all the time. It is a real eye-catcher – whether in the kitchen, the corridor or the office. The high garden also looks gorgeous outside: You won’t need to stoop to plant it, there will be no snails or rodents anymore. Instead, your plants are installed on the balcony, the terrace or in the garden as they deserve. The high garden: A garden on stalks The high garden is made of five cachepots for five stacks turned inside of each other. One connection elemebt keeps the stacks together in the middle of the object. The cachepots are made of white or grey concrete and the sticks of massive oak wood. Each high garden is handmade, as usual for all the urbanature products. The cachepots are suitable for planting pots of max. 13 Cm diameter. Bodum - Bistro oil and vinegar dispenser
There’s something homey about having oil and vinegar dispensers on the kitchen or dining room table at all times. And then there’s something messy about actually using them at the table. Most dispensers don’t cut off the flow of the oil completely after pouring, causing the oil to spill when the dispenser is returned upright - and any table, especially a wooden one, takes a beating. The BISTRO Oil and Vinegar Dispensers come with a pointy plastic beak which cuts the flow of oil and vinegar very precisely – hence, no messy tables. A little silicone ball in the lid closes the dispenser when it’s standing upright, and then moves up to open the lid when the bottle is tilted, allowing for easy pouring. The dispensers are made from plastic, silicone and borosilicate glass. They are dishwasher safe.

Greg Eason has the rare quality of letting simple drawn images seem highly complex and of offering them impressively roomy depth. The British artist explains about his poster Whale Reprise: ”I re-adopted the whale pattern from a picture I already drew in 2011. That’s the reason for the name Reprise.” The designer laid his whale on a grey background and added a bubble, which looks like a human head and which softly breaks the grey colour of the image with its delicately shimmering light effect. There is the name of the manufacturer and the designer written under the Offset-printed graphic with decent letters. Paper Collective Poster Whale Reprise: Subtle Message Eason wanted to make people think of the extinction of the whales with the subtle and ominous composition and he wanted to question humans in the ecosystem. The dog breed also called dachshund or simply sausage is especially popular in Germany, which is why the designer Sabine Meyer dedicated a serving tray to him. The long back and the short legs are characteristics we recognize on the first sight. The silhouette of the dachshund serves as serving tray because of its anatomical qualities. It isn’t only allowed to smile when you see this tray, but it is even desired. The humorous design isn’t unpractical, since the serving tray “Sausage Dog” is useful to present finger food and snacks of all kinds and it can also be used as cheese plate. The Speaker picture by Jan Kurtz is a piece of pure contemporary art. Bertrand Jayr introduces street art into our living rooms. Bertrand Jayr is popular because of two things: He translates existing forms into new contexts and he likes to work with concrete. Why shouldn’t pictures be made of concrete as well? The used lightweight concrete with its characteristics reminds us of a screen instead of something made of concrete because it is tire-proof, pressure-resistant and relatively flexible – but it is also rougher, more heavy and impressing than every other screen. Street art at home The designer Bertrand Jayr erases the borderlines between art and design. With his art prints on concrete, the French designer transferred street art into our homes for the manufacturer Jan Kurtz. The Speaker picture from Jan Kurtz appears with Graffiti style. The motive looks like done with a spray-template (among experts: Stencil), making the street art look more authentic, reminding us of famous artists like Banksy. Each one of the pictures has its own “grain”, since they are made of concrete, becoming unique, while the material also surprises experienced art enthusiasts in the context of wall art.

The lid of the Alessi Cha is easily but firmly introduced in the corpus of the kettle / teapot, in order to remain closed while it is used. The flexible handle of Cha is fixed at the corpus in a way that it snaps when the object is levered vertically, so that it is easier to pour the content. The handle of Cha is close to the corpus, which means that the multifunctional teapot is space saving when it isn’t used. It was and is still an authentic and harmonic friend on the terrace, on a field or inside of the house. The Bistro collection was already designed in 1889. It was desired by coffee shop owners and lemonade sellers all over the country back then. Simple but robust and kept in a classic style is how the Bistro furniture pieces have all we need to use them outside. The table by Fermob and the suitable chairs of the same collection are foldable to be ported inside and stored without needing much space. The possibility of transporting furniture this fast was good for restaurant owners in the 19th century, since they were able to save the taxes for permanent terraces. Classic table for today The spirit of the Bistro collection didn’t lose any of its charm. The leading French manufacturer for outdoor furniture Fermob decided to re-edit the Bistro collection. The square folding table appears as genius and attractive as when it was first presented – and it became a classic table for modern times. The square Bistro folding table is also available in further sizes. Each size can be delivered in all the available Bistro colours. The Bistro tables are additionally available as square table and as rectangular table.

Muuto - Wood Lamp Table Lamp
The Wood Lamp Table Lamp by Muuto displays a knowingly complement to the most high modern table- and working lamp on the market. The designer intentionally made the lamp angular and "raw" and describe it as "Low-Tech". All details of the wood lamp were accordingly pragmatically chosen and even in screws which combine the single parts are all visible. On the wood lamp it becomes apparent how a lamp is held together and out of which it has to be made, to have the known functions like a adjustable arm and head. The visibility of the elements is always planned and demonstrates an intentional style in a technical high developed world. Regarding the function, this table lamp works like other working lamps and desk lamps. But the unusual Wood Lamp can also be used as solitary and as decoration element. Through this rustic design and the simple production method, the Wood Lamp gets a profound personality. With that it becomes a welcome change to all flat and high technical and futuristic effective table lamps.

Leather and beech wood come together at the Hay swatter, fighting flies, wasps and other threads surrounding us. Hay questioned why an everyday object like a swatter must always be made of plastic. The Danish answered with their swatter that mustn’t hide in drawers or cupboards. Their processing of natural wood and leather is the reason why the swatter is as effective as every other swatter, and the leather strap at the handle makes the swatter easily stored by means of hanging it at the wall. Hay produces the swatter out of untreated beech wood and oiled leather. The natural appearance of it fits in classic surroundings, where a plastic swatter shouldn’t be presented. Modern furnishings will get a welcomed spot of naturalness with the Hay swatter.

Jan Kurtz Möbelvertrieb GmbH Jan Kurtz - Deer Concrete Picture
The Deer picture by Jan Kurtz is a piece of pure contemporary art. The Deer picture from Jan Kurtz appears with Graffiti style.

As a daughter of a Dane father and a Swede mother, it is clear where her Scandinavian influences are coming from. And this is also obvious in her designs: Noble minimalism and the natural materials wood, wool and leather characterise the design of the Skagerak Georg series. The Georg Clothes Hanger are reduced to the essential. One hanger is manufactured out of two wooden parts that are connected to an iconic-simple shape of the hanger. The Skagerak Georg Hanger are hung up with a classic hook whose simplicity perfectly fits the calm design of the hanger. Skagerak manufactures the Georg series out of fsc-certified oak wood which demonstrably stems from sustainable forestry. With the Georg Wardrobe, Skagerak takes care of a suitable hanging possibility for the reduced wooden hanger. Whereas the wooden variants of the designer pieces add a natural appearance to the ambiance, the black version appears noble and elegant.
