The result was the Copenhague-Series, which consists of a chair, a bar stool and diverse tables. Hay and the Bouroullecs tried to design furniture for an educational institution, which would belong to our time with their shape and identity and which would fulfil the demands of a University. That’s the reason why the Copenhague Round Table – which is available as dining table and as side table – is very functional, but without getting far too serious in its expression. Since the designers wanted to free the Copenhague Round Table CPH20 from institutional flairs of traditional furniture and they wanted to design objects with bigger originality and a more homely appeal. Hay produces the Copenhague Round Table out of oak wood. Further editions are available on demand.

    &Tradition - Hoof Table
Samuel Wilkins designed a side table with an unusual appearance: The Hoof Table he made for &Tradition was inspired by horse’s hoofs, which protect their feet from animals – the 'hoofs” of the Hoof Table have the same effect. The utility of the unpainted legs is to protect the legs from detaching lacquer, giving the table additionally the unusual, rough handcrafted appeal. The fact that the legs of Hoof are pointed reinforces the natural appeal of the &Tradition side table even more: They look like stakes that can be rammed in the ground. The table from &Tradition therewith gets an earthy character. The rough character contrasts thereby the filigree table top, which is softly rounded and which looks weightless because of its slenderness. The tension and the interplay of these different attributes is what makes the Hoof Table made of oak wood special. The Hoof Table is also available as couch table with a larger diameter and lower height.

The chair is suitable for different rooms of the house and it serves for different events and demands, if they change. The design of Era is directed to different generations and it looks as great in the living room of a design enthusiast as of a family with children, of a young couple or of their grandparents. Normann Copenhagen Era: Numerous editions Simon Legald explains: ”It took a while until the proportions and the interplay between soft curves and tensed lines at the seats were perfectly balanced. It was important here to process the cushions and seams with a lot of handicraft precision. It was my aim to create individual armchairs with an own character fpr each one. I achieved in this by means of creating different variations between the high and low chairs and also by the different frames. This is how the wooden frames are flat and look warm while the thinner, round steel and chrome editions rather remind us of industrial objects. The frame of a rocking chair is an unexpected and playful alternative for a lounge armchair.” The editions are uncountable: Normann Copenhagen’s Era Lounge Chair is available in a high and a low edition, with legs out of oak wood, walnut, black painted steel or chrome as well as with a rocking chair frame out of chrome. The Era Collection also includes a stool. Two woollen qualities with vivid appearance and beautiful structure as well as soft, resistant leather in many colours are also available as cover for Era.
