    Designed by Danish furniture designer Finn Juhl (1912-1989) the Pelican has a wonderful sculptural shape drawing inspiration from his artist friends such as Henry Moore, Jean Arp and Barbara Hepworth. Inspired by the modern ”free art movement” this chair has a lovely organic shape - almost animalistic that some have likened to big mammals. Typical of Finn Juhl, the Pelican is very comfortable offering support in all the right places and manufactured according to best craftsmanship traditions with hand-sewn upholstery. The legs come in several types of wood and the chair can be ordered with buttons or without. Price varies according to fabric group.     The new FLY Series by SPACE Copenhagen is a lounge collection made up of two sofas and an armchair. Pushing the idea of lounging to its fullest, FLY is a series that allows the user to sit, lie, rest, and relax. Unlike many of the sofas and easy chairs in Scandinavian design history, FLY does not impose any particular posture onto the sitter. The seat itself is optimised for comfort, with loose cushions for the back that can be arranged according to the user’s own needs. But FLY adheres to tradition in other respects; the frame of the sofa and armchair, with a slatted back rest, is made from oak, treated with white pigmented oil or smoked oil. It is the type of material and treatment that ages with true grace, only becoming more beautiful with time. Frame Solid oak, oak veneer, and plywood.     Classic and comfortable small reading chair, designed in 1940. Authentically manufactured by Vitra, true to the original design. The chair was first made as a contribution to the New York MoMA's "Organic Design in Home Furnishings" competition. Formally speaking it was ahead of its time, but owing to the lack of manufacturing techniques, it wasn't put into series production. It was not until after 1950 that it became possible to manufacture larger quantities of organically shaped seat shells and market them. Also available is the Organic Highback.
